Single Player Spawn
The single player spawn thingie wont work! Argh. I dont know what im doing wrong here. I just place it in a map, give it the player team and then the Pos marker in the campaign editor ontop of it right? Every time I start using a prefab or making a char it just starts the game without control of anything. :-

When you say you gave it the player team what did you do exactly? Because you should set it to the player index of 1 rather than enter the team number into the desired team field.Forty-six & Two wrote:The single player spawn thingie wont work! Argh. Thats what I did, Player index 1 and 1 is the human player. I dont know why it doesnt work.. it worked ok before, with the same cam file which is wierd cuz I didnt even make a single player spawn back then. Heh.requiem_for_a_starfury wrote:When you say you gave it the player team what did you do exactly? Strange, hmm. Have you checked that you've marked the first mission visited in campaign text file? All your paths are correct? And you've used the same file name in the campaign txt as for your map (no spelling errors or Capitalisation differences)? Of course you have otherwise you wouldn't be seeing it at all.Forty-six & Two wrote:Thats what I did, Player index 1 and 1 is the human player. Hmm try opening up your cam file and re-importing the data and then saving it, see if that helps. Otherwise I'm stumped, the single player spawn should work, as long as you've got you're cam file set up correctly.

Fat bunch of help I was Glad it's working okay, but out of curiosity have you kept the mission filenames the same? ie mission01, mission02 etc and have you saved your cam file as a different name? If so how is that all working?Forty-six & Two wrote:I dont know what I was on yesterday, its working fine now. I dont know what goes wrong sometimes.. . Thanks for the help.

Re: Single Player Spawn
Im just using the bos.cam file and the mission names are Mis_0, 1, 2, 3 and so on. Works ok. I dont know what I fecked up, but it was just my head playing tricks on me, so everythings working fine now. Got 5 areas on the campaign map, most of them need NPCs, triggers and scripts though. But looking good definetly. I cant decide on a story though...requiem_for_a_starfury wrote:Fat bunch of help I was Glad it's working okay, but out of curiosity have you kept the mission filenames the same? ie mission01, mission02 etc and have you saved your cam file as a different name? Re: Single Player Spawn
I just wondered, I've been messing about, and have been altering the maps but to avoid confusion have been renaming everything, works fine though, but I haven't been changing many of the campaign variables.Forty-six & Two wrote:Im just using the bos.cam file and the mission names are Mis_0, 1, 2, 3 and so on. helps to have that done first, planning, planning, planning. I'll not start on a campaign proper until I've got all the speech files done, that's the hardest part as far as I'm concerned. Good Luck with it anyway.Forty-six & Two wrote:Got 5 areas on the campaign map, most of them need NPCs, triggers and scripts though. But looking good definetly. I cant decide on a story though...

Its usually best to come up with a story and then implement it via the game, as RFAS suggested. The story isn't particularly important though. You can have all sorts of events that do not really rely on who your main character/s is/are and it not effect the storyline that much. It is only important to consider early if you want to have strong character development throughout your campaign.
