Fallout: Yurop Interview

Kaczor of Vault Dweller’s Home Page pointed out that he translated part of Wastelands Rangers interview with Shigorem Birdman, lead designer of Fallout: Yurop. Let’s get right to it:

[Wastelands Rangers]: Could you tell us a little more about plot? Will I play one of the returning scientists?
Shigor Birdman: Yes... and No :-) (on that ship are not only scientists). You will have the possibility to create custom character (as in Fallout). Soon there will be more information about plot, but story is varied and complicated. We have to give player free hand and game will be ending with different ways.
[wr]: Where the action will take place? Eastern Europe, Great Britain, Russia?
s.b.: Mainly in Central Europe, partly in Germany, Czech Republic, Austria and naighboring countries.
[wr]: Do you want to change whole graphics? Add new character models, buildings, guns and inventory stuff?
s.b.: Somewhat of Fallout art will stay (to save our time), but we add for shure a lot of fresh look. Guns and stuff will be new (prepared almost form drafts), so new graphics is essential.

Yeah, they need someone who speaks English as a first language and czech second, not vice-versa. The Polish ==> English translation issue dogged the Awaken FoT mod quite severely. Bit of a hatchet job.Smiley wrote:Hmm. Very interesting.
It might be fun to see some recognisable places from Germany ^^
I hope they have a somewhat decent translater for game itself.

Not necessarily. They just need someone who really knows English. AFAIK Awaken was done by 'civillian' fans, whereas a part of the Yurop team are professional designers, so there's also a higher chance that they'll acquire someone professional for the job.Stevie D wrote:Yeah, they need someone who speaks English as a first language and czech second, not vice-versa. Oh, and just a note - the lead guy's nick is Shigor Birdman, the -em is just a suffix in the inflection system of Slavic languages (in some languages it's -em, in others it's -om). It's used for the masculine singular 7th case (the 'instrumental' case, which English expresses through the prepositions with, through and maybe some others). 8)
good to know.DJ Slamák wrote:the -em is just a suffix in the inflection system of Slavic languages (in some languages it's -em, in others it's -om). Yeah, this project has a more professional feel to it. They have a decent chance not to mess up the Fallout setting too badly.
