It just damned well better not be Harold. Whenever you hear about Harold it's all about, "Harold is special." Well now the 3rd character, who is a ghoul, is "sort of special." Maybe he's Harold's long-lost great nephew's brother's evil twin? Sounds right on par with Team Chuck's ingenious brand of creative writing.
Its probably just some random ghoul who is totally against what the rest of his ghoul kin are doing, stuffing themselves with dynamite, and decides he wants to be different and goes to join the BROTHERHOOD OF STEEL. Who I am sure welcomed him with open arms.

Zombie ghoul terrorists, Orc super mutants & spitting radscorpions. This game is going to be special allright. Does it come with a free lobotomy so one can appreciate the full nuances of the new & improved action version of the Fallout universe? RLH & Bawls nothing, this would make a great promotion & ready the customer base for any upcoming Interplay console action games!

If you think the Gamers.com "preview" was bad (i.e. just a bunch of regurgitated PR-fed hype), then check this out.
Obsidian:
Now working on Fallout: New Undermountain!

They promise to spend only a year on this title - only a year less than the original Descent to Undermountain!

hahahaha, just look at all those positive reviews, most of them say something like: just play baulders gate to know what its like.
what is this game? baulders gate with 1337 dual pistols and ghouls on crack?

On the PS/2 one, I found this fucking GREAT:
speed97 wrote:fallout has been a fav of mine ever since the first and i think a 3rd person shooter would be great for this title but then like monkey says u shouldnt judge the game completely before the release, but its a fav of mine so i give it a 9
You shouldn't judge a game before it's released, so give it a 9.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA!

Well, at least Interplay has the moron crowd.

Yeah, that is a good one, but I liked this one better, from the Xbox section:
wbcola wrote:"First off, all d***-sucking nerds who think the game is gonna suck just because its NOT gonna be a squad-based RTS game just need to play different types of games."
He thinks we don't like it because it's not FOT! Poor guy. I take it he's never ever heard of FO1/2... But wait! There's more!
wbcola wrote:Just because the game is finally NOT going to suck you judge the game badly before you've even tried it.
Exactly what he's done even before accusing us of the same. We need some sort of gallery for these.
wbcola wrote:If you were to think about it before you start posting stupid messages, you might find that the game will probably be pretty awesome.

Yeah, well let's see how.
wbcola wrote:First of all, you finally have FULL control over your character instead of having to click here, click there, wait till all 3 enemies are dead(after a half-hour). You get to shoot in real time instead of wait for your people to attack.

He says "first of all", but this is actually his only argument. And it's not very good either. I believe the dubious "merits" of FOBOS' combat system have been discussed enough...
wbcola wrote:Now, the fact that you dont get to make your own character does suck pretty bad. But that shouldnt take away from the game TO much.
Uh, yes. Given how laughable the characters are, it should.

I believe one more quotation is in order. Jan Werich, a Czech actor and playwright, once said (rough translation): God created humans, but He forgot to get it patented, so now every idiot can do it.

It's his only argument, and it's a pretty stupid one. In Fallout, you click where you want to move, and the character moves there. You switch to the targetting cursor, click on a living thing, and your character shoots it. So, just how non-total is the control in Fallout and Fallout 2? You do have total control over your character in those games, so basically, he's either doesn't know the meaning of the term or he's a total twit.

Rosh, that UGO article made me sick to my stomache.
UGO wrote:...so short of the two companies [Vivendi and Interplay] both being taken over by brain-eating leprechauns, Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel should certainly have a big presence and give us all yet another game to look forward to at the end of the year.
That statement would be remarkably prophetic, had it not already happened.

Uh, I thought being able to interact with objects and observe them to get witty descriptions was one of Fallout's strengths? As was the turn-based, pnp style combat? Plus the occasional flavor text in that little window?

If RPGs turn you off, well fine, go play a good shooter. If it's a console game you want, go right ahead. Personally I'd reccommend GTA3 or Vice City - or one of the many other fairly innovative console games out there (humm can't think of any offhand because I'm not a console man, but I've heard some good things) - not an uninspired cookie-cutter shooter, but whateva. Personally I think console gamers are fairly critical people today (if unintelligent and for the wrong reasons :P ).

If you blow your paycheque on this, all the better for Chucky & Co. I guess. And buy all the sequels!
suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.

YEA! A whole new website full of shit-headed hipocrties and complete fucking morons for me to completely ridicule and hate! Combined with the DVD version of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy I got today this makes me so very happy. Oh what the hell am I saying, this is horrible. It's fucking horrible that we have to resort to slandering a Fallout game like this, it's downright bastardish that Chucky's making us, and its even more revolting that there are people who will buy it and it will probably get a sequel knowing Interplay. I am just so damn tired of it all. The whole thing shouldnt be happening. I'm gonna have to cut back on visiting for a while so I dont get quite so much bad news. Damn stupid world and all it's damn stupid people why the hell dosent it just blow up while it's still a bit ahead?

Franz, did you notice the real funney in the UGO article?
Interplay has undergone some re-arranging and internal company shifts in recent years, but it seems that, despite all the brou-ha-ha, someone managed to remember what is perhaps the company's best-known franchise and hand it off to Vivendi Universal to develop.
Between UGO and those at Gamers.com, they've done a real good disservice to the gaming community with their presence, essentially lowering the average IQ of gamers exponentially.

As the first segment of his post explains, he hasn't heard of FO1/2. Ever. But I guess that by "total control" he means "real-time"...

Oh, well. I wish there was a way to contact him via the website to tell him how amusingly wrong he's got it. This way I have to hope he comes here and sees this. :D
