BIS fan boy pleas - Don't listen to Fallout fans
<strong>[Game -> Update]</strong>
<b>Kreegle</b> pointed out a <A href="http://forums.interplay.com/viewtopic.p ... 69">really funny thread</a> on the <A href="http://forums.interplay.com/">Interplay forum</a> to me just now. I thought you guys might enjoy it! Here's the general gist of it, <i>Don't listen to Fallout fans when making Fallout 3</i>. That's right, kids. Here's some fun quotes!
<br>
<br><blockquote>for he past month, whenever an improvement to fallout is suggested by bis or fans, the fallout maniacs who consider fallout 1 the holy, undisputable, perfect word of god pounce on it and say "fallout was fine it odesnt need any changes"
<br>
<br>i think these people dont realize that were talking about making fallout 3. it should be an evolutionary game, that improves the fallout system and gameplay. what was ok or even good 6 years ago is quite obsolete today. if these all these fallout maniacs want is the same old thing then they should just play fallout 1 over and over again.</blockquote>
<br>
<br>Sound advice from someone that can't even handle the language.
<br>
<br>I think what this guy doesn't get is that <i>Fallout 3</i> should be <i>closer</i> to <a href="http://www.interplay.com/fallout">Fallout</a> and <a href="http://www.interplay.com/fallout2">Fallout 2</a> than anything else! That's the point, bright eyes! Considering the sales of <A href="http://icewind2.blackisle.com">Icewind Dale 2</a>, I think you'd be hard pressed to come up a good reason why it should be more like <a href="http://www.blackisle.com">BIS</a>'s last release.
<br>
<br>Oh, and if you want an example of how smart this kid is, he said this in <A href="http://forums.interplay.com/viewtopic.p ... 8">another thread</a>:
<br>
<br><blockquote>why should cars be rare in fallout?
<br>
<br>think about it. there are cars all over the place. every family has got at least 1 of them, many even have 2 or 3 or 4 or 5. even in a nuclear catastrophe, they would have most probably only nuked the cities. but the millions of cars lying around the countryside would be left pretty much unharmed.
<br>
<br>so, instead of cars being rare i think it would be more realistic if junked cars were lying all over the wasteland.</blockquote>
<br>
<br>And here I thought the walls of <i>Junktown</i> were made of junked cars.

I can't stand those IPLY forums. The people there are such 12 year old AOL users, very disgusting, who start birthday and "WAHTS YOU"RE FAVRIT MATRICHS MOVIE 10101" threads. I hardly see what point this guy's trying to prove, however, other than hardcore Fallout fans are idiots for trying to preserve what made the Fallout game different from some cookie cutter RPG. Basically, he's saying we should trash what we've established and start a new Fallout from scratch? Ehem. As for the cars, he's dead wrong, though I think cars might have a place if Fallout 3 occured less than 40 or so years after the bombs dropped (sort of an "early Fallout" with more radiation and less technology to worry about - trust me, I've done some long, hard thinking and writing about this subject in Fallout PNP).
suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.

hey
I seriously think someone needs to cut that kids balls off, if he has any. Even veterans at that forum sound like newbies.
Re: hey
Well this is a very good example of what they are talking aboutPOOPERSCOOPER wrote:I seriously think someone needs to cut that kids balls off, if he has any. Even veterans at that forum sound like newbies.
With the constant threats against anyone who wants to change anything about Fallout (and let me stress, this is a dedicated FEW), its no wonder that BIS has gotten on the defensive. Can you blame them?
Template
What template do you want BIS to follow when coding FO3?
How will FO3 be "new" if it mimics the Fantasy RPG's and the Grand Theft
Auto Wannabees?
Could it be possible to stand on it's own, and be sequel of FO1/2, and not a remake of IWD2?
Too many want to replay what entertained them before. The repetition
makes the time go faster, sort of a trance. AND, comfort has it's life dulling price, if you're awake to notice.

Re: hey
There's a reason people do it though, like oh...um...maybe..like...BOS which is like a slap in the face to all Fallout fans, if they disrespect us like that I'll disrespect them. Thats only for Interplay though, I "threatened" that kid because he was an idiot. I leave the formal educated responses to Saint or Rosh, while they leave the idiotic button mashing to me.Finch wrote:Well this is a very good example of what they are talking aboutPOOPERSCOOPER wrote:I seriously think someone needs to cut that kids balls off, if he has any. Re: hey
BIS has gone on the defensive? You self-righteous assholes! You've insulted us hardcore Fallout fans time and time again by trying to convert all of the elements in the Fallout universe into something modern day, thus turning Fallout into... not much at all. And you know, you can only ask us to drop our pants and bend over for you so many times.Finch wrote:Well this is a very good example of what they are talking aboutPOOPERSCOOPER wrote:I seriously think someone needs to cut that kids balls off, if he has any. Same threadSection 8 wrote:As far as I'm concerned, the intermission was tolerable, with those aussie guys putting on a half-decent if sloppy show, but the sooner you get this loco mexican guy off the stage the better. I caught the last bit of his cover of the Floyd track when I came back from the bar, but he doesn't have much of a singing voice, so get the headline act back on stage before the whole venue clears out.
I love it when Gareth uses poetic and satirical metaphors to describe Interplay's handling of Fallout!
I personally think that BIS should make FO3 based entirely on my suggestions. Sadly, it is just not going to happen.
