Fall of Foundations Announced

Post by Mad Max RW »

<strong>[Game -> Update]</strong>

<html><body><P>Look! Another 3D Fallout inspired game! There’s nothing wrong with that, if you ask me. Vladimir 'SciHunter' Kotelnikov of <A HREF=http://cyberworks.falloutsite.ru/ target=_blank>Cyberworks Studio</A> sends word that his team is working on a post apocalyptic RPG titled <A HREF=http://cyberworks.falloutsite.ru/cyberw ... /index.php target=_blank>Fall of Foundations</A>. This is a bit on the game’s storyline:</P><blockquote><em> World of post apocalyptic future. Mankind continued industrialization. More resources were spent on research of new power sources, vital for technological development. Oil could not give enough power, and nuclear energy was so unreliable that society had to invent a new power source. In next few years best scientists had discovered newest type of radiation - delta rays. An opportunity came up to generate huge amounts of energy almost at no cost. One of mega corporations found a way to push on scientific community that developed that technology and all over the planet power plants were built that utilized the new technology. But October 1st, year 2012, something went wrong, on one of the stations huge disaster occurred.... This has changed the world, changed forever. In place of explosion a black cloud appeared that started growing and spreading the radiation. When the cloud reached other stations, delta emissions in the air caused other reactors to blow up. The chain reaction started, causing mass destruction on it’s path. People in panic left their houses and ran, ran in random directions.... Least of all did the small islands suffered. On some of them even the life survived.... Several years have passed...</em></blockquote><P>Players will have the choice to follow the main quest or wander around the game world, which is a big plus. They also have several screenshots to check out. Here’s a taste:</P><blockquote><center><A HREF=http://cyberworks.falloutsite.ru/cyberw ... 0/scr2.jpg target=_blank><img src=/madmaxrw/cyber1a.jpg></A> <A HREF=http://cyberworks.falloutsite.ru/cyberw ... 0/scr5.jpg target=_blank><img src=/madmaxrw/cyber2a.jpg></A></center></blockquote><P>Check <A HREF=http://cyberworks.falloutsite.ru/cyberw ... /index.php target=_blank>Fall of Foundations</A> for more screenshots, 3D renders, mp3 samples, and info on the game.</P></body></html>

The Russians seem very big on this whole Fallout thing, maybe more so than us Americanskis. Maybe they should set Fallout 3 in Russia?

JJ, for the love of God, do not start with the FO3 in Europe thing, I beseech you. Remember the guns akimbo thread? This would be worse. FO3 outside of America is a dead horse that's been beaten into the ground endlessly, so please stay away.

On a lighter note, I love Russia.

Oh, hell, I love Poland, too. And Czechoslovakia, while I'm here.
How appropriate. You fight like a cow.

Some answers.

Greetings to the Duck and Cover forum members :) I'll try to answer some questions. So, the first one is when and where the game will be released, after we'll make it till end. When we'll make this game, most likely it'll be released like a high-grade commercial product, and we'll make everything to release this game in both 2 countries: USA and Russia (where we live and work). As to the locations, where you will be able to go, it won't be Russian territory as well as it won't be USA... The action of the game take place on an island somewhere in the Atlantic ocean, but the names in the game and the game world will be more americanise. And you right, there is a thousands of Fallout fans in Russia, and just like others, we hope and wait that Black Isle will release Fallout 3, but every day our hope grow down, thats why we want to release our own Fallout like game.

Whats the hook?
Are you looking for a compelling linear story, a game of more subtle choices like fallout, or a deep combat oriented rpg?
Or something else?

The hook is in the full freedom of actions, you can do everything you want to do, you can pick up everything you want to pick up, you can kill everybody you want to kill (excluding only few story NPCs), you can go everywhere you want to go, also a strong and interesting storyline will be in the game. And the atmosphere of the game will remind the gamers about the greatest hit - Fallout.

And why can't you kill those? There should always be ways around having to actually talk to NPCs in order to find out something important in the story. More importantly, no one in the game should be immortal.

For example, if you have a UBERSTORY IMPORTANT NPC, or USINPC, who is going to give you some important information he got on the whereabouts of a critical and deadly threat looming on the horizon, allow that NPC to be killed, and allow the player to find the letter he recieved detailing that information - including where that information came from. That way, the player can not only get the information, but it leads the player to where he can uncover more information for himself.

Wow, they have alot of stuff.

Say, which came first, the stuff or the forum? See cuz some people think that you should have stuff before a forum. Especially when its someone else's forum. Theres alot more to talk about in the forum when theres stuff.

...Not that i'm implying anything, evog.

erm, yes. looks cool.

Look here ""my fellow Americans"" a genuine 'modern' use of the dynmaic

!THREE POINT PERSPECTIVE!

A good omen.

Makes me nostalgic for Rapido-Graph pens and parrallel edges,
until I recall the lower back pain from all nighter-deadline drafting.

And the minimum wage scale.

Borrowed 20 bucks. Got that 20 ounce "Plumb" framing hammer and never looked back.

Oh, and I like what I see. Good Luck with the enterprise.
