Fallout 3 screenshot! Well, sort of..
[Game -> Update]
Briosafreak has sent me a link of a mock up of what Fallout 3 might look like if development continues on it's current path.. Courtesy of one of the SomethingAwful bunch. Without further ado:

That picture sums up a thousand words of thoughts I've had since hearing about full control of party members, real time with pause combat, playable races, weapon proficiency perks, and just about everything else of late.

Thanks, Briosafreak of No Mutants Allowed!

So that's why J.E.'s going over there. He's after their art skills.Saint_Proverbius wrote:Briosafreak has sent me a link of a mock up of what Fallout 3 might look like if development continues on it's current path.. SuperH: If that was a guy named 'Krez' saying that, just know that he's a troll:p
Oh, and Saint P: I don't believe I heard anything about weapon proficiency perks, or having full control over party members, or even about having only real time with pause combat. Then again, I have heard about perks that'd make certain types of weapons better (like the Sniper perk), having limited control over one party member per turn if you have a high enough skill and they'd still disobey you if what you are telling them to do is against their nature, and focusing on turn-based combat while throwing in a real time with pause combat system because the suits made them do it.
Of course, you're probably just exagerating, but still, FO3 is hardly going down the lines of FOBOS.

Wow, I really hope that this^^^ is true about focusing on TB, if they do in fact have RT as an option. Though I really hope for that last line to be true!
KillaKilla's logic:
FOT and FO: BOS weren't FO at all!........... 1. I am nobody
DOGMEAT is God. Never dispute this!........ 2. Nobody is perfect
Up and coming hardware nerd.................. 3. Hence I am perfect

They're having both turn based and real time with pause. However, unless they're going to do two AIs, one for each combat mode, and two different monster placements for each mode, real time most certainly will affect the design of the game and how well turn based works. Another consideration would be things like sliding from a heavy hit and balancing that with how it would work in turn based. There's a reason Fallout Tactics dropped sliding, aka Knockback. Also, consider how the turn based hex system would work in real time. It most likely wouldn't just because of the movement thing alone, so... Forgive me if I don't buy the line, We're making both modes in the game, but real time won't affect turn based.Langy wrote:Oh, and Saint P: I don't believe I heard anything about weapon proficiency perks, or having full control over party members, or even about having only real time with pause combat. It's been mentioned several times that you'll have full control over NPC party members, but there will be a speech skill check on it. BUT, the skill check won't be that high, either. Go figure.
The weapon proficiency thing is the latest addition to the NEW, IMPROVED SPECIAL that JE's been talking about, the one with only one gun skill.

SPECIAL for the short bus.
Well, all these "features" that the IWD, BG habituates want perpetuated, will be rolled into the projected TARGET MARKET culdesac, and then ""through the eye of a needle"" to fit on a PS2 controller, or the head of a pin.
Or maybe the analogy of sausage making and acts of Congress apply.
