Superstims, Dynamite, Mad Max, Mysterious Stranger...

Discuss the game that started it all, and its sequel. Technical questions and issues go into the Fallout Technical Support forum, not here.

Superstims, Dynamite, Mad Max, Mysterious Stranger...

Post by mrhandy 2.0 »

Hey gang,

I have a bunch of questions:

1) So if you go up to someone at full health and stuper stim them it kills them without entering combat?

2) I love arming dynamite and then using reverse steal to plant it on people. Anyone have any cool stories about doing this? I tried to use it on the Regulator with the shotgun to save Jon Zimmerman but could never get the timing right.

3) Besides Dogmeat/leather armor - are there any totally overt Mad Max references in Fallout 1 or 2 - as in Max actually appears?

4) What are the stats for the Mysterious Stranger? Can you get any cool dialog from him?

It takes a lot of super stims and time, but yes.

Lots of people like leaving armed dynamite in their inventories for the kids in the Den to steal.

Mad Max himself never appears in the game--the NPC who referred to Mad Max was the original owner of Dogmeat and was killed by Gizmo's cronies before the Vault Dweller ever shows up. Aside from that, the car in FO2 was originally supposed to look something like the V8 Interceptor.
4) What are the stats for the Mysterious Stranger? Can you get any cool dialog from him?
Don't know his stats off the top of my head, but some tinkering with the FO2 editor might tell you. And no, there is no dialog. He just appears and helps you in random encounters.
How appropriate. You fight like a cow.

Each superstim does the equivalent of 9 points of damage (I think) over time.
suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.

in fallout 2 in the Cafe of Broken Dreams, you can see mad max :D all you have to do is kill dogmeat then he will walk up and say sumthing then attack you.

i'd save first, cause any fallout adventurer has to have dogmeat with them :D

Yup, but it's not a totally direct reference... Hehhe... The guy in leather jacket who attacks you is called "Mel" :))

A cool thing about the Mysterious Stranger is that he gets better weapons and armor as you progress in rank, and you can steal stims off of him

but when he dies hes dead, right?

he/she is like a halfway decent NPC partymember that only appears in random encounters. does that include special random encounters?

In the description of the MS Perk it says that once the MS is dead that he/she will not appear again. However, this rule does not apply to dead girls named Anna.

Essentially, yes. However, you cannot customize, and their inventory does not remain static. Every time you encounter, inv contains about 5 stims and several reloads of ammo for their weapon. And, yes, s/he appears in spec encounters.
