DAC Downtime

Post by Killzig »

[ -> N/A]

On Monday morning DAC will be made unavailable to you, the viewing public, for at least 24 hours while we make the long anticipated server switch. Please forgive us for any inconvenience and seek refuge for the time being at NMA or in #Fallout on irc.gamesnet.net:6667.

Thanks for reading and have a great weekend.

I hope it will allow me to eat pizza and surf at the same time and maybe even have a beer. Will it be cherry flavored?

Yes, of course. It will be everything you've ever dreamed and then some, for the server will always provide.

I'm assuming this means those of us with a website hosted by DaC won't be able to do any updating to the aforementioned website until the new and shiny server is up-and-running, correct?
Closing our eyes forces us to look
At the darkness inside.
Our emotions always find us
Regardless of where we hide.

Correct max, and as a precaution I'd ask you to back up all your files. Just in case. Though I've been told all our subdomains, e-mail addys, and FTP accounts will be transferred over.
The answer to your first question is shaddup.

For those of you wanting to know what the server is -

P4 3.06ghz w/ HT
1GB PC2700 DDR Ram
4 x 80gb hard drives (raid 5 - one hot spare)
3Ware Hardware Raid Card (upto 8 drives)
1 x 200gb backup drive

Have a look at http://www.s3hosting.com/phpsys/
The server is hosted in the ServInt datacenter VA.

The site should be accessable via www.s3hosting.com/~staff/ once the move is complete and untill DNS servers fully propagate.

nah linux caches as much memory as possible so that it doesn't have to use swap ;).
Unlike windows where it'll use swap befoe the memory is totaly full.
