theres about 4 (5 if you count the diff 2nd half of the film) the one ive assumed theyve changed it to is the one where Celina tries to save Jim screams a lot (great acting) but he dies and the 2 pick up their guns and walk out.

There was an alternative to this scene where Celina tries to save him and as he dies he remmbers up to his accident with lots of people shouting road rage etc. to kinda clarify the point the film is trying to make about rage however it looks really tacky and one hopes they dont use this one.

Theres also the "chicken ending" where you see Celina try to save Jim but you dont know whether he lives or dies and it cuts to "28 days later" and celina is sitting in that farm house talking to someone (like in the ending youve seen) however the camera pans and that someone is actually a chicken. Young lass comes in saying she can hear a plane and Celina and her run out with the banner everything else is the same except theres no Jim.

Well they get to the barricade and the dad gets infected, however Jim knocks him out and they tie him up, they then go to investigate what the barricade was guarding and find a large research facility (the one from the start of the film). Its abandoned except one room where a bloke is hiding in behind a fing huge metal door.

There are a couple of infected attacks which they fend off and Jim convinces the bloke to tell him the cure for infection which is......... a total blood transfusion (this is of course stupid as Boyle points out in his commentary as youd have to empty the person of blood then flush his circulatory system through with bleach to get rid of every single drop of it). So he leaves some stuff out and Jims the only one with a matching blood type so they do the transfusion and leave Jim on that table surrounded by moniters from the start of the film. They mysteriously switch on and start showing the rage images whilst Seline the dad and daughter go into the blokes bunker thingy. End.

I like the sad ending better. Thought they were all going to die after crashing into the gate, or that the movie would just cut off there. Instead we got a Tide commercial.
I'll get you, Yoshimi.

That whole second half is stupid as you lose the whole "Jim had to become enraged to beat the soldiers" theme.

Psh people, how can you complain about the ending? It's a zombie movie for crap's sake. How do Day and Dawn of the Dead end? Flying a helicopter to a deserted island where they live happily ever after. Hardly any better than being saved by uninfected people. And they're the classics.

I thought it was quite a good movie, it could have used a higher zombie quotient... you really didn't get to see them a whole lot and they weren't in a lot of the movie... also, that damned through the tunnel scene not only didn't make sense, but sucked. So yeah. Other than that one part, the movie was good, and pretty much everything was as I expected. Still shoulda been more zombies doin' stuff though.

A good deal of people died when they were attacked, they arnt zombies they are just enraged uninhibited savage people thus they still bleed to death from wounds and get tired. I for one was suprised and glad for the general "lack of zombies" there really arnt that many people in the world to have severl hundred zombie attacks on small farm houses in the middle of no where.

They actually filmed a large amount of infected attack near the end bit but changed it because it was silly to have a group of several hundred people unable to communicate with each other stumble upon a mansion in the midst of woodland 50 miles outside of Manchester.

The original Night of the Living Dead had a depressing ending and its probably one of the best endings of all time (especially for the era it was made in and for a cheap horror film).

exellent movie, just saw it today.

the best scene, i think, is after jim jumps down from the ceiling and seline is about to kill him, and he looks like hes infected.

for some reason i kept thinking of "omega man" whenever they were hiding/defending from the infected guys.

Mr Carrot wrote:Its not cheaper its just a typical british ending, they shot the new ending to appeal to the american market it appears however that they thought that the original ending was superior.

The film only had a 17 million quid budget they did well with what they had. The original endings a hell of a lot better than that Swedish Airforce flyby.
I was expecting that Swedish jet to bomb them, just because you'd have to purify England before people could return safely.
