i have tried to do it by opening the entity editor and then opening the .ent file of the character\sprite.....and changing it there..but it will save in the editor....but in the custom mission it is still the same as before....can someone help?...thankyou.

After you made the changes in the entity editor it should show up in the custom mission unless you are loading from a asaved game. To be safe open the mission with the level editor and reinsert the entity.

Certain things are set up so that changes to the entity file will not affect and entity already placed on a map. Two of these are Gender and Level. If you want to change them you'll have to go back and manually change it in the custom mission, or just go ahead and reinsert the entity like you said.

Other things which are not over-riden by changes to the entity file would include the color, start posture, whether combat taunts are enabled, whether the entity uses sneak and/or cover, etc.

Cheers,

Its odd that some things are not automatically updated.

Perhaps, but it is useful in most circumstances. For instance, you could sit down and have 57 raiders on a map, all of which are the same file, but they have their colors, levels and gender set to up differently through the Level Editor. If everything updated automatically these custom settings would be lost.
