Um... how do I get into that damned elevator?

Um... how do I get into that damned elevator?

Post by Raksha »

I'm stuck in the Sierra Army depot, on level one. Embarrasing, I know. I'm fairly sure I am supposed to take the maintenance elevator down to level two, but for some weird and frustrating reason I seem completely unable to get in to that elevator. The door remains locked, regardless of what I try. Hints? Please?

Yes, this is very embarrassing

Oh, and another weird thing. When I was looking through the forum her, I noticed that when I click on a link, instead of showing that page to me, my browser shows the source code. If I press the back button in the browser (IE 6.0, btw), and click on the same link again, it shows me the actual page. Every single time. It never does that with any other forum, and never did it with this one until I registered... A little help on this matter would be appreciated as well.

You just need a very high lockpick skill to get in. Try using an electronic lockpick to boost it.

I've tried that, but it didn't work. As I said, it's a bit embarrassing... Thanks anyway, for the quick reply.

You have the general's eyeball, right?
suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.

Nah, he's going into the maintenance elevator so he doesn't need it. Like I said before, get your lockpick skill really high, or alternatively, your repair skill to get rid of the force fields.

Eh, you don't need you're lockpick skill to be really high if you have the general's eye. Just use it on the Retinal scanner.

iirc: There is another unlocked entrance to the maintainence elevator on one of the other levels.

The general's eye doesn't open the maintenece doors, you need to lock pick the things. The general's eye only works on the main elevator shaft.

As for your forum problem just PM soulfish about it.

Exactly, you don't need a high lockpick if you have his eye, you can travel throughout the whole base with it/the other eye. (though you cannot get into the maintenance elevator without a high lockpick skill.)

btw, try using electronic lockpicks (mk2 is even better) if you are hellbent on getting in there.

She. Raksha's a female name. ;)

And from all these answers, it seems I'll just have to head back into the base and snoop around until I find a way in, with dogged persistance, and an eyeball in my pocket. So I'll simply go do that... it sounds like fun anyway.

And thanks Stainless, I'll send him a PM.

The same could be said for 'Strapon2'. Or 'Stainless' for that matter. :O

My bad? Or just stupid? Or my apologies...? Or something.

At least I managed to get into the base okay, I feel so much less embarrassed now.

My first time in there, I tried the elevator without the eye. Imagine my surprise when all of the robots come out to kill me!
I support everyones right to make a fool of themselves.:chainsaw:

I just wish I didn't do it so often.

the maintenence elevator is one way in although you need E lockpicks and fairly high lockpick, an easier alternative is to repair forcefields around the normal elevator disabling them, use the general's eyeball on the retinal scanner and use the elevator.
