Bad frames, Bad Computer

Today was the day, boys! My old, borrowed CPU fan failed! And tomorow, I'm gonna get a new one. So here's my question: How can I get an old machine to get decent FPS in graphics-intensive games? Like, say, DOD?
Specifically DOD.

Nothing? no settings, no "hacks" that get rid of lighting affects? Nada? You've got to be kidding me! Now I have to wait till monday to get decent frames! Noooooo!!!

Even if you did hack, it is very easy to get caught, especially because of DOD (specificly dod retail 1.0)

Anyway, hacks would just slow your comp down more, and plus nearly all of them use OpenGL modes, which some old computers can't handle.
The only things that would speed up your computer while using hacks is whitewalls... but who wants to hack anyway? It makes games no fun, for you or others.

By "hacking" I meant getting rid of lighting affects. EG. Grenade explosion lighting, etc. not some autoaimer!
