I have been reading for years the warnings from some experts in the internet on how the North American powergrid is old and saturated. I bet they are now all smilling and saying "I told you so".

In Detroit -- IIRC it was back during the '50s -- there was a paper that printed nothing but good news. It went under quicker than you could bat an eye.
While a lot of people complain about the rather negative character of the bulk of news reports, this is actually what John/Jane Q. Public wants. It takes their minds off of their own problems, reminding them that there are people worse off than they are.
Personally, what I find more annoying about the news than anything else is its formulaic nature. This is especially prevalent at the local news level, where you always have the same national headlines/local headlines/sports/human interest format. Yuck...

No rioting in Toronto, either. MMRW knows his post-apoc games, and we love him for that, but he's not much on anything else.
Iokhus, I don't know who told you not to flush your urine, but that is not a concern at all despite hydroelectric power. If anything, it just adds more liquid into the water area system dealie to go into the dams.
Silver I said North America not USA, but the powergrids of the USA and Canada are interlocked and can actually be considered as one. Anyway whats the diference between USAans and Canadians? They look all the same to me!
