Fo3 will not ...

Post by Killzig »

[Game -> Update]

Fo3 will not be very moddable. This <a href="http://forums.interplay.com/viewtopic.p ... ht=#528883" target=_blank">coming from Mr. Chad Nicholas himself...

VB = not mod friendly. There are no plans to release any of the dev tools after the game is done, either. Sorry.

Though if one were to h4x0r t3h pl4n3t, one could probably create his/her own textures for the game characters and weapon models. Don't expect any editors though as they're probably not even using in house programs for that sort of thing.

I'm guessing it will be eventually. Even if it's 5 years down the road like it was for Fallout 2.

SIG, I doubt it. They're probably not even using in house developers. I wouldn't be surprised if they were just using stuff like 3d studio max and other 3d programs.
The answer to your first question is shaddup.

What do you mean by "in house developers"? As far as I know, the Jefferson engine is in-house. I'm not going to lie and say I'm a programming expert or anything, because I'm not. I just figure that there are enough people out there that know enough about modding/programming that if there is a high enough demand, any PC game could be moddable, official or not.

By that I mean they're not using tools they made like the FO/Fo2 mappers. They're probably making their levels in programs like 3d studio max which are retail items then converting to some propietary file format. You're going to have to wait for Team X or some other modding group to go all out and hack this baby to pieces before you see any real mods.
The answer to your first question is shaddup.

I couldn't resist,

FO3 will not...

...be nearly as good as Fallout 1

...be in the same spirit as Fallout 1

...test your morals/ethics in a post-nuclear world, in a non-mediocre fashion

That's enough from me. Anybody else have any?

But how do you know? For all you know Fallout 3 could own fallout 1 like a fish.

Its not even out so how can you judge it?

FJ-

I was going to give a long winded explanation. I decided not to. My advice to you would be to read everything you can about Fallout, Fallout 2, Fallout Tactics, FOPOS, Interplay, Black Isle, then make up your mind.

As to how I know F3 will not be as good as F1,

call it 'instinct'.

So what your saying no one can make a better game then a game already better then that game?

So what your saying Splinter cell is not better then fallout because Splinter Cell was made after fallout, therefore making the first game ever made the best, huh what I don't understand what your saying. Your saying Game Devs don't get better they get worst and that games get worst all the time.

Fallout was popular because of atmosphere, both a dark and humorous world and it was much closer to a RPG then a lot of other RPG out there. So what no one else can create the same thing as that is that what you’re saying? Sounds like it to me maybe you should think of what you say before you hit the big pretty button.

Your instincts suck if you knew anything you would know that you cant always rely on your so called ‘instinct’ when it comes to games.

Fallout 1 has cult appeal. No matter what you say, Fallout 3 will not. It's mass marked, designed to make the most people possible happy. That's why I like Fallout anyway. I'm so hardcore B)
suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.

Take your Ritalin, wait an hour, then re-read what I wrote. I'm not trying to say anything. I said what I meant, and I meant what I said. We are talking about Fallout, not any other game. You are starting to sound like someone who thinks FO:BOS will actually be a worthy addition to the Fallout Universe. Nobody wants that stigma put on them. Also, I wrote what I wrote to make fun of F3, it was not targeted at you. You are trying to make this personal. It isn't.

WOW yet you go talking about FO:POS which has nothing to do with fallout but you probably think it does.
You are trying to make this personal. It isn't.

Damn I love DAC!-

The entire spectrum of personalities exists in its forums. From the Ultra-Bright to the gibbering lunatic.

A note to future Hemingway's: if you're going to copy SP's writing style, you must have a minimum of 8 in INT and 130% in SPEECH to pull it off. Also, try and muster at least 1/10th of his wit.

This, I know.
