What do you do for a living?

Post by Neon Dingo »

This topic has probably been made before, but I was curious. What do you do for a living? What is your profession?

Me, I make 3 different kinds of toast appetizers and bread at a dilapidated Italian resturant for $5.15 an hour. I only work Fridays and Saturdays from 5PM to 12/1AM. It's pretty dehumanizing, but at least I get paid to be dehumanized, unlike high school.

I also mop and help my friend wash dishes. My pants usually look like a modern art masterpiece at the end of the night after all of the different colored sauces get splashed on.

Pros: I get a free Italian dinner every night. The food is actually very good. My boss and fellow co-workers aren't really all that strict and are generally very cool. Free drinks or toast whenever I want. My boss gives me under the table handouts of cash depending on how hard I work. That really helped me tonight because it helped me just barely pay my cable bill.

Cons: Standing in the same place in front of a hot vintage oven without a door for 8 hours straight. Burning my hands on this oven. The pay. I work Fridays and Saturdays. The chef hates me (probably spits in my dinner).

It's the only job I could get. Believe me, I fucking looked...I looked hard.

Edit: I'm a Vault Veteran now...yay! I think?

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, aside from the little bit of work I do for the grandparentsm but that's not enough to really get me anything.

The only good thing they make is chicken nuggets with a sea of pommes frites sauce. Yeah. Yum. The burgers are mostly cardboard though.

Me, I'm an entertainment refuse expeditor. In other words I sweep up people's shit at movie theather. I make $5.50 until Nov. when I'll get at least a 25 cent raise.

Pros: Get to work with some really cool people, I don't really have to work that hard even when the place is busy, I get to look at all "sights", managers usaully buy doughnuts in the morning, free movies, popcorn, and soda.

Cons: Usaully understaffed so I have to do more, not getting paid on break, the asshole VP of operations who is always watching me, the ease of which to get fired, occasional heavy lifting.

I do carpentry, painting, and plumbing. I work for one guy (kind of like an appentice, but not officially) and we do odd jobs, mostly, so the work isn't always steady. I make ten dollars (US) an hour under the table.

Under the table? Are you under 16 or something?
(I worked at my neighbor's internet business before I was 16. All I did was put toys in boxes and slap an adress on them. Made $8 and hour... "under the table")

No, I'm 19. "Under the table" just means no taxes are taken out. I get paid cash. You're not supposed to do that, but then again the guy I work for isn't a licensed carpenter or plumber, so he's not supposed to be doing any of that stuff, either.

I'm going to college to become a teacher, and I also work fulltime at a daycare.

Then I get drunk every night to relieve all the stress of the day.

And the kids aren't terrified by your cock bolt?
How appropriate. You fight like a cow.

If I had to work with kids all my life I would end up commiting suicide in the classroom.
