Actually, that's only NPC I ever take. He's got lotsa AP and often cause criticals&knock over enemies.

I didn't know he was in Mad Max o_O

It's a reference to Road Warrior, if you talk to the guy who Dogmeat is holding at bay in the first game. 'He just came in here and plopped his furry ass down after some guy with a strange accent came in here'. Max's dog in the movie was named just 'Dog', but I think Dogmeat's name is a reference to the Austrialian slang 'Meat pie', which means 'dead dog'. So again, it's a reference to Road Warrior.
