What do you do for a living?
I always wanted to become a movie director untill I found out you' re ought to have the cash to finance 'college-projects', which I don' t have. But I still learned a great deal about the sector though during those two years.
Right now I' m studying to become a primary school teacher, although I know the pay is lousy, but it' s something that gives me fullfillment.

He who keeps the old akindled and adds new knowledge is fit to be a teacher.

Yeah, it's really sad that movie directing is so hard to get into unless you have:Calal wrote:I always wanted to become a movie director untill I found out you' re ought to have the cash to finance 'college-projects', which I don' t have. (1) big friends in the industry
or
(2) enough money to do your own projects until you get recognized
the only option you really have if you don't have those is to come up with a great idea and try to get investor's or people who want to back your idea for artistic reasons (these are hard to come by).
Another option you might have is to come up with a good idea, and then pitch it to some "Endowment for the Arts" funds... though they tend to be pretty competitive, it's worth a shot if you have a good idea.
You could always do something related but much more low-key, like being a screenwriter or something. Which is something I could probably do quite well (I've tried writing such things actually). Get involved you know?morris wrote:Yeah, it's really sad that movie directing is so hard to get into unless you have:

suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.

Yeah like a fluffer or something like that. Seriously though, if you're into the trades you could be a set painter or carpenter or something.atoga wrote:You could always do something related but much more low-key, like being a screenwriter or something. I design videogames. That's my life's work. It makes me no money.
I drive trucks. That's my job. It pays the bills.
Without either of them I would be utterly miserable, poor and probably homeless.
Yup. I'm happy.
Someday, I hope to design videogames that will make me money. Then I will drive trucks for fun.
That day I will be ecstatic.
And quite honestly I hope that then you guys will be happy, because I would've helped to make a game you like.

W00t, I got paid today.
Yup, I get paid $5.15 an hour to make toast.
It's time for me to find a new job.
Anyone have any advice for a 17 year old High School senior looking to get a decent part time job (over minimum wage)?
I sent in applications and completely random places and got nothing back.

Haha, that is seriously not a bad idea.
A lot of people think I deal/do drugs already (I've never touched anything besides 6 bottles of Miller Lite).
Maybe I can keep the guise of a drug user/dealer and sell to them without turning my brain into a thick, goey, lumpy mixture of strawberry cake and vanilla ice cream.

Or wait outside of a short school bus and rob kids as they get off.satanisgreat wrote:Or just hustle fake drugs to stupid people. Or steal they're money and say you got robbed. I've done it before, it's a quick way to make good money. It's not like you're hurting anyone important.
