Intensity strings, part 2

Post by Max-Violence »

Here's my complete list so far. Feel free to add some more. If we get a bunch here, I'll send the list to Kreegle as a "Mapping Resource" (hey, there's an idea for a new feature for the new DaC).

The list thusfar:

These are intesity strings for light entities in Fallout Tactics. Copy/paste the string into the "intensity string" box of a light entity. Bear in mind you can change the "Rate of Change" property until the Brahmin come home, but a value of 66 is the default, and usually the best. But hey, if you want to further customize your lights, by all means, mess with it! :)

Cheers!

Good. This is going to get handy since I wanted to experiment with those lights eventually. Since you made my life easier, here is a tip about sprites-you might already have feagured this, but in any chance:

You can change the colors of projectiles and explosions without photoshop's help. All you have to do is export the ACT file from spray and import it on the Explosion-projectile sprite. You have to experiment with many of these though, since a lot of them are useless.

I used this to change the colors using photoshop made ACT's for my canceled campaign(I had a lot of energy weapons), but it should be easy to use the way I'm suggesting also.

*puts down the shovel*

While this doesn't really have anything to do with intensity strings, it has to do with lights, and I don't feel like making a new thread right now.

Anyway, if one types in large numbers into the color value boxes for a light, one will decrease the drop-off distance of said light (drop-off distance being the distance where the light gradually fades darker and darker, untill the light is "out.").

In other words, if you type in, say, 255 for all three colors, you'll get a white light with the normal amount of drop-off (about 1-ish floor tile, 6 WUs. Maybe 6-10 WUs). However, if one were to put 4096 (nice, big computery number), the drop-off distance is pretty much gone (i.e. the light abruptly ends instead of fades).

Dunno if this has already been said, but hey -- I didn't know about it!
