Fallout 3 Unofficial FAQ Verson 0.4.9

Post by Mad Max RW »

[ -> N/A]

NMA updated their Fallout 3/Van Buren FAQ with the most recent info gathered directly from certain Black Isle members. There’s plenty to check out, but there will always be more. Here’s a preview on the latest FAQ additions:

I have suggested a Fatigue stat. Fatigue isn't something you accrue by doing mundane things. It increases as you do things like come down from chems (and super-stims), perform extremely strenuous actions (unarmed combos), and "bash" damage that's a portion of the damage absorbed by armor. It goes up, hit points go down. Fatigue is lowered by your Healing Rate every round. If your Fatigue passes your current hit points, momma said knock you out. When your Fatigue drops below your current hit points, you wake up again.

Power armor should look almost identical to the PA in the original game.

I like the NMA FAQs and all, but it's kind of pointless is you visit the BIS forums on a regular basis. All they do is reprint all of Puuk and Sawyer's posts. Not that it's not a good idea to compile them or anything.

I think the Fatigue stat could work, btw, but I don't think it should knock you out. Just make you move slower, be worse in combat, not be able to heal yourself, etc.

That post was in respose to someone's suggestion that NPCs should be immortal, which is a bad idea.

Well, yes, but most of us can't stomach the IPLY boards for more than a few minutes at a time, and for us, the FAQ is great.

And beyond that, it just makes sense to keep all this stuff neatly organised in one place.
How appropriate. You fight like a cow.

I prefer DAC over IPlay boards any day. All their ideas are utter crap compared to the rigid views of DAC. I like being amongst other "true believers" ;)

I couldn't have explained it better myself.

Brios' FAQ is always pretty useful. 90% of the Fallout stuff on IPLY has nothing to do with anything, so reading those forums is mostly a waste of time; also, yeah, it's a pretty depressing place for obvious reasons.

Good info. It might be handy if they put dates with questions, so I don't have to read it all again to find the little that is new.

Still great stuff.

BIS folks are just asskissing the fanbase, it seems to me. They tell you what you want to hear.

*sniff* i wOb u2 Kill :)

The main reason why the dates and threads aren`t listed together with the replies, and it was supposed to be that way on this version, is simply because a few things that are wrote there, and they will be more in the future, weren`t posted here, on NMA, on the BIS board or the SA, it`s stuff from here and there that people send me by mail and really can`t be traced. I check if the thing is true before i post them of course.

But there`s another reason for not putting the dates, that way it would feel like a compilation of what`s beeing said and not like a true FAQ, that people can read to help out ocasional doubts and to get the bigger picture. It`s something to think about if new things shouldn`t have a sign of some kind for those that just want the new stuff, i`ll ask the others what they think about that.

It`s really not my FAQ, but the teams FAQ in the first place, and everyones FAQ too, since if people didn`t ask the questions we wouldn`t have so many answers at this point.

Keep the feedback coming, thanks for the compliments and the criticisms.

I think their FAQ is great. I know that when I read up on what other devs are saying about a game I'm interested in, I like to read it as short blurbs on a fan sight where they've quoted everything in a nice Q & A style.
