Post by boywoos »

I just re-installed FO2 however when I try and play I get a message saying "Couldn't find/load text fonts". Any suggestions?

The first thing you should do is reinstall again... maybe some files are corrupted and this could solve your problem instantly.

Try installing again, maybe a different size installation.

Great avatar, by the way. :)

It's Jimmy Page's Symbol, fool!

edit: And that was the one I directed my avatar comment at...

If you want to understand what it really means though, it's a different thing althogher. There's only one man in the universe who knows that and that's Jimmy Page. IT"S ALL VERY MISTERIOUS AND SCARY.

I had this problem with the standard "Humongous" install. try having the CD in when you firct load the game. That always fixed it for me.
KillaKilla's logic:
FOT and FO: BOS weren't FO at all!........... 1. I am nobody
DOGMEAT is God. Never dispute this!........ 2. Nobody is perfect
Up and coming hardware nerd.................. 3. Hence I am perfect

The Zoso symbol chosen by Jimmy Page as his symbol for the 4th album cover was originally written down by a 16th century hermeticist J. Cardan in a classical 1557 work Ars Magica Arteficii.

You can see the symbol in the book "Dictionary of Occult, Hermetic and Alchemical Sigils" by Fred Gettings, published in 1982 by Routledge & Kegan Paul, ISBN 0-7100-0095-2. This book also tends to go wandering from libraries due to interest from folk practising witchcraft, but I was able to interloan a copy through my local library without too much difficulty.

In the section "Planetary Symbols" on page 201, under Sigils, for planet Saturn Cardan's 1557 symbol is virtually identical to the Zoso symbol above (and nothing else in the occult dictionary is even vaguely similar).

Jimmy's astrological sun sign is Capricorn, which is ruled by the planet Saturn. Cardan's symbol above is a magickal symbol for it. This symbol was also the magickal symbol for Austin Osman Spare.

Some people have referred to this symbol as being in the "Red Dragon".

Yes, that is probably the best explanation... But I think I heard at least half a dozen other explantions.

The funny thing about the link you posted was I have it book marked, and I almost posted it...

Still no joy. I tried a smaller installation and this time I get to the load screen where it then crashes out.

Dan: Thanks, I'm glad you were here to educate the peeps about Zoso

Oh yeah, XP home edition. I've had it installed before I can't see what the problem is this time...

There were problems with installing Fallout in XP, weren't there?

Maybe you should try reading in one of the xp threads...

I think I found an answer to your problem here :
Someone lost his fallout CD, but had the game installed. The game gave him the "Couldn't find/load text fonts" error. From what I understood from Stainless's reply, it seems not all the files got copied correctly from the cd, try copying them yourself.

Indeed.

I'm trying to remember from problems that happened along time ago, so I hope it actually works, and I'm not passing off wrong solutions :?
