I'm not quite sure if I understand what this is.....I downloaded it...Read the readme...

"You can play the game until Necropolis. At the end you will get a small message in the status bar."

So what is it....Fallout 1, or Fallout 2? Is it Fallout 1 using the graphics from Fallout 2?

It's basically a Fallout Engine. You have to (well, for the older versions, not sure about the new one) undat all the .dat files to install it so you can play it though.

The idea was that for modders, we'd have complete access to an engine, so we wouldn't have to worry about any limitations.

It's like a port of the Fallout 2 engine. A lot of older games have stuff like this, especially FPS's. It'll probably only interest modders.

Hmm... let's see...

-- "You can play the game until Necropolis. At the end you will get a small message in the status bar."

The main mod shipped with the game was only intented to be a hungarian parody of the original one (Fallout1)... it was only translated to English, to show you what the engine can do, and what the engine can not do...

-- "It's basically a Fallout Engine. You have to (well, for the older versions, not sure about the new one) undat all the .dat files to install it so you can play it though."

Nope... undat was only needed in Beta1... Beta3.1 can load the files from the DAT, so _no_ undat is needed...

-- It'll probably only interest modders.

Hmm... but if someone makes a mod for IanOut that mod will only run under the IanOut engine... so "normal" people have to DL it too...
Oh... and one more thing... project has already begun on a compleete Fallout2 port to IanOut... so it is possible that one time you will play the original game under the new engine...
And maybe in the final release there will be multiplayer support too... Think about playing Fallout2, with your friend through the network...
Okey... we're only at the 3rd Beta, and there are a lot more coming... but try to look at, what the game will be at the end...

It really sounds interesting and has more potential than the normal Fallout editor. I haven't dl'ed anything yet but may try as it progresses. How many people are working with it on different projects?

FO maps are old, and buggy, and too complex... and why should IanOut have a Fallout Map editor if it uses an own Map system...
For modder: there will be a Fallout2IanOut map converter... but I don't think there will not be a IO2FO converter... (there is no point in making that...)

Oh. i see. I misunderstood. I thought you were saying it would be impossible to mess with Fallout 1.

... IS it impossible to mess with Fallout 1?
