Anyone here a fan of the series? They're two of the best games ever made, and I wish Irrational (and whoever else owns the rights) would make a third.

Get Rebirth. Makes a scary game even scarier.

EA has the rights, last I checked. I wonder what would be made first: a Wasteland remake or System Shock 3?

As for that poll, it's a tie between SHODAN and The Master. Those are the ultimate bad guys of all time.

I have Rebirth, and....gah. Word of warning, though - if you have a crappy system [points to self], Rebirth will slow the game down just a touch. Otherwise, it rules.

I think SHODAN is the greatest villain of any videogame, ever, but I had to vote for Long Skinny. He's just so....insidious.

Shodan, especially in 2, was continuously talking with or toying with the player, whereas the Master was merely, "oh, so you're the bad guy...now you will/Iwill *insert choice of action here*, but he didn't feel like a game villian. Rex was just an end boss, whereas his snakes brother is the real villain, as he drives metal gear. Frank, meh, he was a tough fight, oh and he killed someone once...too one dimensional ( which is the problem with most 'villains' in games anyway ).

I never heard of 'Tetris', so I have no comment.

My vote's for Shodan.

Cheers

Killzig: I just like polls. Have since the early DAC days, when I first used phpBB.

What's brilliant about SHODAN is that, unlike other Big Bad Boss types, she's there with you throughout the entire game - taunting you, threatening you, thwarting your attempts to stop her. You develop an extremely personal give-and-take relationship with her: you destroy her cyber nodes and weaken her security, she sends cyborg assassins after you, rinse and repeat. So when you finally defeat her, it's that much more satisfying.

I like the master because he's not OHAHAHAH ILL KILL EVERYONE EVEN MYSELF

I like dr.robotnik because he's there with you throughout the entire game - taunting you, threatening you, thwarting your attempts to stop him. You develop an extremely personal give-and-take relationship with him: You jump on him, he fires something, rinse and repeat. So when you finally defeat him (again), it's that much more satisfying.

shodan was pretty kewl, but her voice and OMG TWIST was probably the best thing. Pretty dope how she kept talking and shit too, though a bit annoying sometimes if you were half-way through doing something. I also liked the crew logs, like MY CUP RUNNETH OVER! and stuff kekeke

Long skinny? That thing is a pansey... Now the "S" block, on the other hand... I have nightmares about that bastard. It never fits anywhere! There's always going to be a part sticking out and it always leaves a gap which screws you over!

Hands down, The Master:

"I am not here to answer your questions. You, are here to answer, Mine."

"I doubt even the FEV will (help) you. Why am I talking? It's unlikely you even understand..."

SS is one of the most complete games in the sci-fi genre ever made. Both 1 & 2 were rock solid and delivered with accolades.

Often it felt that maybe they were a little high-brow for some people out there but one can consider them either the thinking man's FPS/adventure or the action guy's RPG/ 1st person shooter.

Shodan? That bad mother would have all the other villians running laps inside hamster wheels... and using the big long block as a tampon.

A tie between Shodan and the Master. But I voted for the master because I prefer Fallout ;)

Shodan is evil, but she's more like a goddess, she's omnipresent... You can't hide from her, you can only fight back against the weapons she sends to kill you... The Master is distant until the very end, just a nameless fear, the shadow in the east... eh that's lotr >_<

A named fear in the southwest.

He has a base covered in living flesh... He has a base covered in living flesh...

But Dr. Robotnik is truly a contender for the crown... He turns li'l bunnyrabbits into cyborg death machines. Who remembers the last level of sonic 1...? That place terrified me. What was it called again?

The *something* brain zone.. I think.

And L block is the worst.

Oh, see, I love the L-block. I also like Long Skinny at times. But the thing is, Long Skinny creeps up on you. Everyone is playing the game, thinking, "Oh man, that S-block is a bugger, I hate it hate it HATE IT", so we totally despise the S-block and don't even realize what an insidious threat Long Skinny is. S-block was just a distraction, while Long Skinny is the real threat. It's like season 3 of Buffy: Mr. Trick shows up and everyone thinks he's the Big Bad, but he's all just song and dance. It's really the Mayor who's the one plotting to destroy the world, and no one realizes it until the last minute.
