VR isn't all that great for RPG's because it relies on the skills of the player, not the character. So action games would pwn, but that'd be about all that pwned.NachoMonkey wrote:I can't wait for the first true virtual reality with a RPG style, think about it, being able to live fallout to a degree

I know what you mean, I just got Jedi Academy 2 days ago and because I liked the 2nd one Multiplayer I decided to jump into a multiplayer game after about 2 hours of single player. The first game I joined was a Dual and half the time people who are duelling are just standing their talking, damn man it took like 50 mins for me to get my first dual and I got wiped out 5 mins after. After quitting that I went for a free-for-all and some ass monkey started calling me a dick because I killed him, WTF!.I think that online PC games are kind of disconnected socially. People are assholes.
For example, you'll be having a great old time but then some bastard suggests "knives only." Of course, this is boring as hell, you say. Well then everyone gets pissed off that you aren't using knives and they kick and ban you. Then you go to a new server and someone there is playing shitty rap music over the voice chat feature and for some reason mute doesn't work.
LAN is a lot better, plus if the other guy pisses you off and calls you names you can just get a frying pan and hit him across the head then he'll shut up.
Theres a game i've played on and off on a demo account called Darkspace.
Its fairly fun, once you get a high rank that is.
2 - 3 teams fight for control of a Solar System.(There are several maps, and there is one persistant server called the metaverse where all maps are linked)
Once you control a planet, which is done by dropping infantry on a planet. If there are enemy infantry, you can either bombard them or let your Infantry do the work. Then you build mines to gather resources, Barracks for a steady supply of troops, and a bunch of other things. The website is www.darkspace.net.
Unfortunatly it costs 10$ US a month, but for until 9/26 there is a free unlimited trial.

Try Ghost Recon or Rainbow6, they are a little more cerebral than your standard FPS because it helps alot to be a good strategist. A good team that can follow directions is unstoppable.
You also won't see as many children of the corn desecrating your corpse while flooding the chat with "pwned u swell guy eat shiznads and dyzor!!!!1 l337", as you respawn for the upteenth time.

I'm with Browngotee and The Travelers. Just made officer and got my own ship today.
I would encourage all of you to playing it immediately.

I really like Battlefield 1942, and the desert combat mod is great. As for FPS rpg's, Deus Ex or System Shock 2 would be my recommendations. Ive been playing Wasteland lately (the EA one). Its really hard. I keep walking into cacti
I also recently acquired Homeworld 2. Its at least as good as the first one, and you have squads rather than individual ships, so it looks alot cooler.

Battlefield 1942 is fun when you can find a team on a server where half of them don't camp the planes, get in them, only to run into a freaking building near the runway. Christ on a crutch, if you can't fly, get the hell away from the plane.
Same goes for a boat or sub. If you can't drive it so you don't beach it on the sand banks, get your hands off the controls!
