The folks at HomeLan sat down with Namco producer Andre Emerson to discuss some of their ideas for the official Snake Plissken games, based off the cult “Escape” movies starring Kurt Russell. Here’s a snip:

HomeLAN - How much input will John Carpenter and Kurt Russell have in the development of the game?
Andre Emerson - John Carpenter, Kurt Russell and Debra Hill own the Snake Plissken character, which is a very unique and ideal situation. There are no studios to deal with, if we want to do something with Snake, we talk directly with the creators. John and Kurt are also creatively involved and want to ensure that we create the best Snake Plissken experience. We met with them recently to review potential game mechanics, story concepts and other creative elements. They offered lots of great ideas both for gameplay and narrative direction.
HomeLAN - In terms of the game's story, will it be an adaptation of the one of the two Escape movies or an original story?
Andre Emerson - The stories will be completely original, exploring Snake's past, present and future. Over the series, fans will also be able to play through adventures that explore events in Snake's life, such as how Snake lost his eye, what happened in Kansas and Cleveland, Battle of Leningrad, etc.

The interview discusses more about why they chose to bring Snake into the video game world, gameplay, and where they are in production. The first game is expected in stores fall 2005.
