Mad Max 4 On Hold

Post by Mad Max RW »

<strong>[ -> N/A]</strong>

<html><body><P>This doesn&#8217;t come as a big surprise since rumors claiming the war in Iraq delayed filming on the forthcoming <I>Mad Max: Fury Road</I>. <A HREF=http://www.variety.com/index.asp?layout ... ID=10&cs=1 target=_blank>Variety</A> confirmed it to be true and here&#8217;s what <A HREF=http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire/art-main ... 11.15.film target=_blank>Sci Fi Wire</A> had to say:</P><blockquote><em>A proposed fourth Mad Max film has been put on hold over concerns stemming from the current unrest in Iraq, Variety reported. Mel Gibson had been set to reprise his most famous role in Mad Max: Fury Road, which was scheduled to shoot in Namibia in July, the trade paper reported.

Instead, Gibson is in talks with Warner Brothers to star in Under and Alone, an action drama based on the true story of ATF undercover agent Billy Queen, who infiltrated the notorious and violent Mongols Motorcycle Club, the trade paper reported.</em></blockquote><P>Many people (myself included) have been waiting at least 15 years for a new sequel to <I>Mad Max</I>. I don&#8217;t think another 6 months to a year will hurt much. Thanks <B>senornacho</B> and <A HREF=http://madmaxmovies.com/ target=_blank>Mad Max Movies FAQ</A>.</P></body></html>

They already got filming locations, stunts, tons of extras, lots of actors, vehicles, money, and a shit load of other stuff nailed down. All they gotta do is film this thing.

If they got enough in the can; they can fake the rest with computer enhanced screen/composite/crop shots. Pixelate Mel so he can stay home, and who ever owns the bits and bites will perpetuate him like a William Gibson AI.....

Paint our tan deserts white and add in a Pacific North West pale bright sun and the bluest of arctic air mass skys.

Perhaps if it's convincing they can pimp their 'puter prowess.

I still don't get how Iraq is exceptionally important for the situation in either Australia or Namibia (which is in South Africa)...

They have a lot of vehicles they're afraid of moving around. Makes for an easy target.

For who? Sorry to any Namibians out here, but Namibia is practically the Earth's equivalent of Tatooine. "The ass-end of space." A slab of desert in south-west Africa. What would terrorists gain by attacking a movie crew in the middle of nowhere? Most of them, or at least those who plan stuff, are fairly intelligent people, why waste effort on such a petty "target"?

With this attitude, they probably aren't going to make the film in this decade. :x

And why exactly can't they film it in Australia, anyway? The services there too expensive?

I don't know, but that's what their reason is. I think it's more along the lines of the US military telling them not to move around in the area. You have to remember they have A LOT of vehicles made for this movie. Anything that looks like a large military operation and isn't controlled by the US makes some people nervous I guess.

Oh yeah. and they're not shooting in Australia because George Lucas booked all available studio space at Fox studios for Episode 3.

I think the problem is Mel Gibson and his ginormous ego.
The answer to your first question is shaddup.

I think George Lucas needs to be replaced by a monkey, and a typewriter

But thats in one state of Australia FFS, there is more than one state in Australia!!!
Why would they want all those stage sets for?
Maybe the real outback is too much for them?
I'm confused?
