Connection Help

Post by Wolfman Walt »

Alright, I for once need help that can actually be provided. Heres the deal.

I live on campus. Campus forces me to use their internet service (Resnet).

I just bought Planetside thanks to a former army ranger's urging me to do so. Planetside, for those of you who do not know for whatever reason, is a MMOFPS.

Heres the problem.

Apperantly ((And this is just my guess)) the EKU Firewall is preventing me from playing Planetside. Is there anyway I can get around this firewall or must I assault the Resnet office and do it myself?

Type http://(insert your IP address here)/filters.htm

Maybe that will let you adjust some settings...I assume they're on a hardware firewall...Usually you'll need a username/password...Usually it's admin/admin

Did you use your actual IP address, or the one that ipconfig gives you? My actual IP address is different than the one assigned to me by the router...You need the one the router/brouter/whatever assigned you.

In Win2K you go start>settings>network and dialup connections>Local Area Connection>properties>(scroll down to Internet Protocol[TCP/IP], then open it)... and there it is. iether the "default gateway", "subnet mask" or "IP address" is it. if I remember right, the subnet mask is what the server/hub/router assignes you... I haven't played admin since I was ~ 12, so I might be wrong.

FOT and FO: BOS weren't FO at all!........... 1. I am nobody
DOGMEAT is God. Never dispute this!........ 2. Nobody is perfect
Up and coming hardware nerd.................. 3. Hence I am perfect

Heres something to further complicate things.

19. Yes, until it interferes with other user's service. Since most games use relatively little bandwidth this is seldom a problem, but the moment it becomes one your port may be shut down. ResNet is not a gaming network and no support is set aside for gaming. You may NOT run a gaming server accessible on the Internet.
