Breaking into Cars

Post by Stainless »

Just out of curiosity, and the fact some prick tried to break into my car yesterday, how many methods are there to actually getting into a locked car?

I know about the coat hanger method down the window, however these punks pried off my door lock cover and tried to get in through there. So it just made me think of how many different ways you can get into said vechiles (without putting something through the window).

So....who cares to enlighten me?

Steal the key?

Sadly enough, that's about all I can think of that doesn't involve breakin' something.
Closing our eyes forces us to look
At the darkness inside.
Our emotions always find us
Regardless of where we hide.

Well if you have a modern car and have seen Ghost Dog, you can probably make yorself a universal electronic door opener. My car has a remote lock that I always use. I have only put the key in a lock once?

It doesn't seem that prying the lock open would do much to get inside. An actual jimmy-bar does much better and quicker than a coat hangar.

Someone could just drill out/remove the lock then twist the mechanism with a screwdriver or something. Thats on older cars, though. I can't really think of any other ways to do it without wrecking something. I feel like I'm not seeing something obvious. Besides stealing the key.

In some cars you can break into the trunk easier than the doors. Then it's a matter of pulling back the upholstery and getting in through the back seat.

Pre 2002 SUV's are the easiest to break into. Either use a drill on the door lock or coat hanger/any kinda long and thin piece of sturdy metal through the window. There's a reason why they've always been the most popular cars for thieves.

Smash the window and crawl in. Then hotwire it and stuff, it's easy. Finding a replacement window should similarily be no problem.
suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.

If you can still find it, I suggest the "Anarchist Cookbook". It's full of useful information. True, not all of it really works, but a majority of it does. Breaking into cars is like one of the bigger entries.

Edit: Found it, you can go to Here for basically a free online copy....though it seems shorter then I remember it.

You're meant to be able to do something with the black plastic stuff they wrap around cardboard boxes.

Someone I know can do the coat-hanger method with someones windshield wiper.

Mostly though you can just go around and test doors, a few will be open. Just watch out for a flashing light?

The anarchists cook-book is alright, but some parts of it are pretty stupid or something. This site has hundreds of better ideas, but still has some bullshit.

The trunk is indeed the easiest way to get into most vehicles. You might no know it, but most backseats lay down...That's so if someone gets stuck in the trunk and can't find that little "Pull to release" handle, they can just kick down the seat.

SUV's aren't the easiest to break into, not the more desirable...Do you think the most commonly stolen vehicles are harder to break into than an SUV? It's a time thing...If it takes too long, a robber won't do it.

The scary thing about electronic locks or starters or whatever thats electronic, it could be easily broken into if your either a) a genious who can write codes for remote controls like tv remotes b) really lucky. Ok here is an example that happened to me. im watchin tv and my fan is off, it is an electronic fan and has its own remote. well i decide to turn mute on becuase i wanna just nap for a while, when i pres the mute button, my fan turns on! I was like what the fuck! well this happens with my 8, mute, and flashback button and have different effects. Well ironically enough, it works with my car as well. My dad has a stereo in his garage and it has a remote, i press play and my car doors unlock!!!!!! its the codes. i figured that out soon enough. some remotes and tv's have the same codes as stereos or fans or even cars! Wierd aint it?

Please do, my car is shit. Steal it and ill collect insurance and by a much better one! Anyways, like i said, you gotta be extremely lucky to find the right combo of codes, eventually in a few hundred years, itll be easier (more codes and remotes that match)!!! so until then, guess youll just have to manage the old way.

Don't remotes use IR beams to transmit their signals? I've never seen a FOB (heheh) with a little "bulb" or IR transmitter on it. How do each work?

(I think I'm gonna take my remotes to the school parking lock and freak some people out ;))

The funny thing about alot of those cars is that it isn't the newer models that get stolen most often, it's the older ones. Not many newer accords get stolen due to the security features built-in on them.
