Anyone remember what events were about befall "those that lead the way" this time 10 years ago?

Here's a hint:-

That whole "thingy" (Operations Provide Relief, Restore Hope and the UN led UNOSOM2) had been going on since late December 1992, but you're on the right track...

I meant the events portrayed in Black Hawk Down, because that happened sometime in Oct. 93

Yeah the battle of mogadishu, my dad was there but only with the marines, he left before the fight occured, well there was some fighting while the marines were there but only a few bullets, not much. Damn that was a good movie too. You think well (America) will go back?

The movie was just a documentary really... or just a really high budget re-inactment, still very well directed, Ridley Scott is a great directory

No actually its not. Well some parts are, but take this for example, Matt Eversman, the guy played by Josh Hartnett, wasnt part of the helicopter squad, he was part of the humvee column. And Durant the crashed blackhawk pilot who survived, didnt hide in that building, he was beside the D-boys along the chopper fighting with them. And most of the Delta Force guys werent protrayed or if they were, not intirely in fact. It's pretty darn truthful though, but some parts were mixed around and a few little things were made up, but for the most part its real.

I only saw four minutes of Black Hawk Down and felt that the dialogue was better suited for an episode of Golden Girls.

MP's are sent pretty much anywhere where soldiers are going to be staying. There a pretty neccesary job at virtually any base of installation.

Do we have any presence at all in Somalia anymore? Or did we just ditch it as we left?
