lyrics to two little boys.
rolf harris did a cover of this one too, but the lyrics are quite nice, inspiring stuff.
two little boys had two little toys, each had a wooden horse,
gaily they played each summers day, warriors both, of course,
one little chap then had a mishap, broke off his horses head,
wept for his toy, then cried with joy as his young playmate said,
did you think i would leave you crying when theres room on my horse for two,
climb up here jack and dont be crying, i can go just as fast with two, when we grow up we will both be soldiers, and our horses will not be toys, and i wonder if we remember when we were two little boys.
long years passed, war came so fast, bravely they marched away, cannon roared loud, and in the mad crowd, wounded and dieing lay, up goes a shout, a horse dashes out, out from teh ranks so blue, gallops away to were joe lay, then came the voice he knew,
Did you think i would leave you dying, when theres room on my horse for two, climb up here joe, we'll soon be flying,
i can go just as fast with two, did you say joe, i'm all a tremble, perhaps its the battles noise, but i think that its i remember when we were two little boys,
Did you think i would leave you dying when theres room on my horse for two, Climb up here joe, we'll soon be flying, back to the ranks so blue, can ye feel joe i'm all a tremble , perhaps its the battles noise, but i think its that i remember when we were two little boys.

jesus rolf harris sucks, heheh
those lyrics, i'm not sure who wrote them but they are great ones, it sounds like an american civil war thingie, "a horse dashes out, out from the ranks so blue" possibly meaning the the union forces? horseback cavalry would suggest it to be from around that time anyway, also the use of cannons. anyone have any idea who actually wrote it?

here it is, the film version is a bit different though.
The Minstrel Boy to the war is gone
In the ranks of death you will find him;
His father's sword he hath girded on,
And his wild harp slung behind him;
"Land of Song!" said the warrior bard,
"Tho' all the world betrays thee,
One sword, at least, thy rights shall guard,
One faithful harp shall praise thee!"
The Minstrel fell! But the foeman's chain
Could not bring that proud soul under;
The harp he lov'd ne'er spoke again,
For he tore its chords asunder;
And said "No chains shall sully thee,
Thou soul of love and brav'ry!
Thy songs were made for the pure and free,
They shall never sound in slavery!"
Verse added later:
The Minstrel Boy will return we pray
When we hear the news, we all will cheer it,
The minstrel boy will return one day,
Torn perhaps in body, not in spirit.
Then may he play on his harp in peace,
In a world such as Heaven intended,
For all the bitterness of man must cease,
And ev'ry battle must be ended.
