Oh believe me, I did. I wasnt cruel to her or insulted her in any personel way. You see, shes actually a pretty nice person, and actually, oh no, my friend! I just shot every argument she had on the truth and legitimacy of the bible and gods word as handed down by humans.
I didnt excatly quote the bible, I never read much of it, but I questioned the reliability of the bible. I asked how the hell anyone could know for certain that the words in the bible were actually gods spoken word. I mean, its been more then 2000 years and noone has an original bible. Altough there are runestones or whatnot with religious inscribings you can never truely prove that they are autenthic and on top of that, prove that they were written by true believers. So of course she just uses the same old excuse "I dont need evidence, I can feel that they are true!!" So I asked her why she needed the bible for confirming what she knew and felt for a fact. Well she had a pretty hard time explaining that and gave up in the end.
Personally if I was religious I would not heed any written or spoken sentiment about god, I would simply believe in the feeling im supposed to have because god loves me and me loving me back (Yeah, right...) but it seems more sensible than believing in an institution which has abused millions of poor people up through time by using god and their religion as a justification for killing people who are not like them or just dont believe in god.
Then we had a little discussion about the nature of god.God is supposed to be allknowing, almighty and the kindest mofo around, right? Well how come, us being the children of god, are mean motherfuckers. If we share just a little bit of character with god, which should be obvious from the statement "And god created man in his own image." God cannot be good and kind. This girl from my class said that, oh no, "you just have to ask for help and god will help you!" But fact is alot of people pray for their lives before dying and im pretty sure alot of them die anyhow. Also how can someone who lets all the cruelty of human kind go by without making a difference be kind and nice and good??? He even created this place for suffering and pain. There are plenty of contradictions and ilogic reasoning in what most religious people base their faith on. I brought up other points and I could bring up alot more to her, but I went home instead.
