Max Payne 2 <NO Spoilers>

Post by Jack_Deth »

Got Max Payne 2. Anyone else got it?

First game I have played that actually has ragdoll physics implemented which is pretty cool. Manipulating all the objects... Is this the first game that has that? I don't really play as many games as I used to anymore or read about them so I'm not sure, just now HL2 hype had some about that.

Story is better than the first... people always said the first had a great story... it was exactly like a Steven Seagal movie, yea I like Seagal as we all know but at least I do know that his plots are all retread. Also cool how Remedy knew the plot was like that and you will see in MP2... Dick Justice, which is hilarious.

Is it me, or would that Unknown Address show that keeps popping up in the game make an awesome video game/show in its own right?

Anyways, I wasn't a fan of the first game (the stinkfaces+funny mechanics+Max Payne dressing like a flamboyant homosexual=NO) but I actually like this one. I'm only into the Second Chapter, but thusfar the love story crap hasn't been irritating, the plot has a healthy amount of mystery to keep me intrigued without stepping over itself, and the combat's just downright fun. And yes, for the first ten minutes I did nothing but run into boxes and giggle.

Devastation has a crazy physics engine. If you run into a bottle fast enough it'll fly across the room. Almost everything in the world can be moved.

In MP2 I jumped into some guy and he flew across the room, heh..

Yes, Address Unknown is good, I like the first episode you see at the beginning of the game. The other episodes are okay too... Are there more episodes of Dick Justice?

Is it worth buying? Or should I go with Halo or something.

I've heard Homeworld 2 is good, but insanely difficult in spots. And as for Penny-Arcade...
"So if you were already sick of Max Payne before it ended, like Gabe was, then you will be sick of Max Payne 2 even before it starts."

I disagree. I was plenty sick of the first Max Payne and I like this game. Their complaints of the narratives and stuff are pretty stupid concidering it's MAX-FUCKING-PAYNE...I don't know, what the fuck were they expecting? Last Action Hero: The Video Game? It says "FILM NOIR LOVE STORY" on the front, you have to expect a certain amount of exposition.

Firewarrior is cheesy in design, story and sounds... but rather entertaining.

I'll give Max Payne 2 a chance then.

Well, I bought it today, despite the rather steep system requirements...

We'll see.

I spent nine hours straight playing this... and finished the game. It was a blast, but it's really fucking short.

9 hours? Must be longer than the old game then, took 6-7 hours to beat without hurrying >=/

Yeah. Before my computer was wiped, I had a good forty different Max Payne mods installed, from the uber-cool Kung Fu mod to the not so uber Star Wars mod. Good times.

What really pissed me off in MP1 was those dream sequences. They just weren't fun and that fucking baby crying drove me to switching off the audio fully.

MP2's dream sequences are FAR less annoying. No more maze/jumping puzzle shit. They're pretty cool, actually, especially at 3 AM.
