Maybe it means if the space-time continuum spontaneously folded in on itself, creating a bubble-like sub-universe microcosm, the movie might be considered a masterpiece there?

Microcosm means a sort of reduced-scale model of a great big thing. For (a bad) example, if you had one person who is a republican and another who is a democrat, that could be a microcosm for American politics.

Homestar is mostly shit, except for Strong Bad, and even SB has gone to shit.
