What is this "offensive cover" crap they're talking about? Lenny Kravitz's "American Woman". Now THAT'S an offensive cover.

Yea, but you don't even have to lean out to kill people, you can do it from total cover, thats something you can do in a FPS since your gun is where you look. Note, I'm not saying this is a great selling point , I'm just saying that thats one of the thing Namco seems to be bragging about alot.

I don't see the point in leaning, the buttons take up extra space. Just strafe and shit.

Leaning helps if you want to be stealthy. Just take a peek around the corner, check out where the guard is and observe his patrol path, then sneak up behind him, slice his achilles tendon, and slam his head repeatedly in a door jamb.

Sorry. Seen Kill Bill one too many times.

From a tactical perspective, it offers the advantage of cover, you don't have to worry about being shot since only a small portion of your body is exposed. Whereas if you just "strafe" and shit, your body is fully exposed. Since none of us can possibly run faster then someone who aims, taking cover to suprise someone with randomly popping in and out is the better solution. The blind fire is also good for this purpose in that if you wish to return fire or use suppresing fire, you're able to do so with virtually no risk of being hit. As for the button to take up space, they actually don't use a button for "just leaning" in the demo. You push yourself up to a wall and use the analog sticks to control leaning and blind fire.

Edit: Though generally in FPS's for pc I never use the leaning option.

Too easy. No points for you.

Doesn't that depend on which game you play? I mean, stealth is a necessity in games like Thief and, depending on your approach, Deus Ex or SS2.

Jam? Achilles Condom?

I don't really bother with stealth in fps, I always seem to get heard and get shot in the face. Better to just run around corners diving about and shooting everywhere.

I never played Theif however for Deus Ex, I depended more on my ears and things like shadows more then leaning. For this game though, leaning is purely for combat and tactical purposes.

There's a point reward system for wit (Or lack thereof, in my case)? So if I get ten points I get to hear you say "Fabulous!", and with twenty I win a beautiful pink tank top?

Orange, actually. It tends to go better with jeans.

Theoricaly (is that actually an english word), leaning, stealth and shit is good. But technically it's often something else. Games with "innovative" thingies like this always mess up with it. NHL2004 was supposed to be so crazy with new moves etc etc, but it's so fuckin complicated you need a fuckin logitech gamepad with 27 buttons to actually play.

Same with Red Faction, they bragged about stealth and action misson, even tho in the stealth mission i always ended up killing everyone i was supposed to be sneaking from. It's like : "Oh no! TWO GUARDS, I have to avoid em!!" But in other missions you kill like 20 of em all at once.

Play Thief. And System Shock 2.

Seriously, I'm going to put that on my gravestone.

Stealth? In Red Faction? Wasn't Red Faction all about that cool "GeoMod" or something that allowed you to blow down walls and stuff?

That's all I remember. It was cool in multiplayer.

Yeah unfortunatly it was pointless in single.

Yup. But you got to admit, it was original at that time. Useless, sure, but at least it spiced up an otherwise average first person shooter.

Too bad they had to make a sequel.

You wanna know the funny part of those stealth missions? Their easy. Their based off of eye contact, IE If you look at a guard while he looks at you, he'll notice you. So how do you get past it without letting anyone know? Stare at the floor/ceiling. Its so stupid and simple, but it works.
