i am wondering if anyone actually uses this to sell/buy stuff. i used to sell all sorts of shit in high school to support my playstation and alcohol addictions but haven't ever bought anything off it. most of the stuff i see is either cost prohibitive or misrepresented and isn't worth a dime.

I never sold anything but have bought lots of things. You have to know the value of what you want to buy and you have to have the willpower to avoid obvious ripoffs. I have never got ripped off.

Just this past week I bought 6 PC games (most new, like ToEE and Lionheart) for around a total of $68 bucks from Ebay. I have also used it in the past and have never been ripped off; in fact they actually send the product faster to you than retailers such as EB or Gamestop.

If you're going to buy from Ebay though, make sure you examine the info of the product carefully (to see if it comes with box/manual, condition, etc). Also check to make sure the Seller has a good rating. And lastly, check the shipping rate for the product (for most games/DVD's it's around 5 bucks each). Since shipping fees from different sellers can add up if you're buying multiple products, try buying from the same seller if possible. But anyway, overall I've had very good experiences buying from Ebay, and never had a single problem.

I'm using it right now. I've bought a load of PC components off of it already, and I just bought a VRM for a Pentium Pro mobo that I will win as soon as the auction ends (in about 20 minutes). In all of my 1 successful purchase off of eBay, I've had nary a problem. I bought 5 socket 8 mobos, 1 socket 7 mobo, 9 Pentium Pro processors, 1 150Mhz Pentium processor, and three active heatsinks. Its all worth about 150-200 bucks, and I got it for a grand total of 36 bucks. I rock.

ebay just a pain in the ass to use, cause I dont use my credit card cause of the evil interweb. So i have to send money orders, which just delays it. By the time I get the product I'm already bored with it. I haven't used it in over a year I think.

I've found books, PC games, collectibles, and other good stuff. You actually have to know how to read, though, in order to know what you are doing. After that it is simple.

I once rented a video and then lost it. Upon returning to the store to explain the matter I was greeted with a slap-in-yo-face $90 US price tag. I said to myself "Holy shit, I'm not paying that!" and here is where e-Bay came into play. I did a quick search and found a copy of my wonderfully discontinued movie and got in for a total of $32 Canadian after conversion [This includes shipping.] Needless to say I was quite pleased with the service considering the fact that I recieved it in under a week. [Thanks to PayPal] So I decided to go to the video store, return the film, and get my $35 dollar deposit back; but no such luck! The store had vanished.

But really, what happened was that it was not a Regie de QuÃƒÆ’Ã‚Â©bec liscenced copy so the store refused to take it back because it didn't have a little blue fucking rating sticker. I want my $35 you bastards! This is an outrage!

I use Ebay regularly although right now my account is pending suspension for an indefinate amount of time because this cock doesn't understand that I can't mail any sort of money to Singapore because it's been labeled a "terrorist" nation. Other then that, my experiences with Ebay have been pretty good. It depends on what you're looking for and check your buyers. I've been ripped off afew times. Like 3 times. The most being 50 dollars for a game. Still, it's a pretty good way to get rare/foreign things.

Amazon.com rocks. They have great customer service, and a great selection of stuff, not just dvd's and books, but like hardware, garden shit and everything. They ship well and it's much cheaper than going to Borders.

Plus, you can get out of print things easilly, from the sellers (much like ebay, but they're fixed prices, not auctions). I bought a ton of out of print Dragonlance books for like a buck each.

Another plus is that they send gift certificates to your email every once in a while, like on Christmas, and your birthday, for like 5 or 10 bucks. Also, if you place an order of $25 bucks or more, the shipping is free.

I've been using Amazon for years, and only once did I have a problem, so I emailed the guy, and in like half an hour, I got a response, and the problem was worked out later that day.

And on a side note, Singapore is not a terrorist nation at all. I don't think it's even communist.

I just started int here, I'm trying to get magic-cards, but the prices are sky-rocketing right now, so they suddenly want twice as much as usual and I can't afford to pay like $150 for a piece of cad-board with a picture on it...

Naw, just a few fileservers for my home network. I'm going to get a few PCI SCSI cards and about 20 40GB or 80GB hard drives, and store all kinds of stuff on it. If I ever learn HTML, I'll use it as a webserver too.
