RPGs like fallout without magic?

Post by Naelphin »

I've managed to scratch my fallout cd until it no longer installs, and I am feeling like playing something like it again, but with a different franchise.

Are there any good Fallout-like RPGs out there? Without magic or thinly veiled versions thereof.

Try Jagged Alliance 2. Its my personal suggestion that meets the criteria you describe. Be forewarned, its more tactical then rpg, but it has enough rpg to keep me happy.

Wasteland :-! heh

Unfortunaltey, nothing compares to Fallout, and I've been looking around a lot. I gave up though. PST didn't do it for me at all, and lionheart was a madass dissapointment. Oh well D:

I got part way into it one night. But yeah, you have to play it for awhile before you get into it. It doesnt seem too fun at first.

If you don't want magic - well, then I'm afraid you're outta luck. However, I might recommend Arcanum; while it does have a lotta magic, you can choose to make a technological character as well, and the contrast between magic/tech is interesting and refreshingly different.
suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.

Forgot about Wasteland..

I find it rather hard to get into it, with its copy protection with the paragraphs. Hard to understand when you just have a text file to look back and forth at. Plus the controls were rather disorientating.

List of nonmagic RPGs is rather low :/
