Hello,

I haven't been around for a while, well technically I have because I seem to check the forum every now and again to see what people are talking about. I laugh, consider responding but rarely bother because I can't think of anything to say.

But I kind of need help, basically I'm in the process of writing a book. I love writing, and I have an agent and a potential publisher and all that junk. At the moment I'm researching for a novel about the Russian mafia set (in of all places) Russia! Part of the novel takes place during World war II, better known by the Russian as the great patriotic war.

A friend of mine told me that he saw a film about the Russian mafia called 'Dhjenyah' which means 'traitor', apparently. One of the most violent films he's ever seen, he claimed. Out of interest I decided to go searching for it, but I haven't found it through any search engines or at: http://www.amazon.co.uk

So I figure I might as well ask here in case someone has heard of it. All I know about it is:

It's about the Russian Mafia
It's set in Russia
Lots of violence
Couple of Nazis
'Dhjenyah' means 'Traitor'
It was released around 1995

since you can't find it, you could try watching gangster films. Mabye even think about taking a trip to russia.

I couldn't find anything else about Dhjenyah. Here's a little about recent mafia activity, a google search you've probably done and another search on crimelibrary.

Good luck with the book anyway.

Presumably... it wouldn't be Russia without vodka. My old History teacher told me once that in Russia, when he visited he asked for water and it was in a large milk bottle held in with dried excrement and was from the local swamp. So it's no wonder they drink the vodka instead.

One thing I've always found interesting is that both Russia and Poland claim to have invented vodka. But Polish vodka is very different, it's 100% proof and it's electric blue. It's also banned in this country after a load of sailors went blind from drinking it!

It would really help if you describe the story in more detail. 'dh...whatever' can be translated as garbled 'reflection', 'the trailwalking', or 'adventures', but nothing even remotely resembling 'traitor'.

Of course the movie could be made by other eastern-europeans, like polish film-makers. That would explain the title.

There's an action movie 'Reflection' made in 1998, but it's about a dispute between a woodskeeper and 'mafia' (even reading the synopsis makes me cringe) so I doubt you'll find any nazis there.
