Keyboard shortcuts are super!

Post by Kreegle »

I accidentally pressed the SPACEBAR in a long forum thread and I was pleasantly surprised! ZOOM!

I also know that the BACKSPACE key goes back a page. WOOP!

WINDOWS-D cuts to the desktop! YAY!

WINDOWS-E opens up Explorer! HUZZAH!

Please enlighten me with more of these fascinating lesser-known keyboard shortcuts. They are my new favourite playthings, for at least the next 10 minutes.

IE 6.0.2800:
Help > Contents and Index > Accessibility > Using IE Keyboard Shortcuts

Btw, Opera lets you navigate using mouse gestures (although it's more annoying than helpful).

I asked for FASCINATING shortcuts, not a long bloody boring list of bloody boring mundane shit!

Mouse gestures sounds fun though, I have opera installed already - I'll go give it a looksee.

edit: they weren't that fun :(

Oh well, I'm over shortcuts now - thanks anyway.

CTRL+ALT+DEL and repeat,

it gets u free pr0n

CTRL+O in IE gets you an address bar that doesn't log to history, so anyone else who uses your comp can't see all the pr0n u visited the day before

CTRL+N creates a new IE window when u want to navigate the same site differently, helpful in double quoting phpbb posts without having to edit.

wow i need to get a life

Mouse Gestures in Opera are worthless, never been able to get my trackball to do any worthwhile gestures like the 'up yours' or 'swivel'.

Naah, everybody knows that one.
Try opening an Excel-project, rearranging your firm's accounts and then quick saving with Alt+F4+right arrow key+Enter.

shift-clicking a link opens it into a new window,

If you want privacy, you can disable all the cookies and download a program like JAP.

http://anon.inf.tu-dresden.de/
They have an english site as well.

You could also just delete all the history/cookies/files and stuff.

The buttons on the side of my mouse act as forwards and backwards keys in the browser. So no pesky lifting my hand and pressing backspace.

To my knowledge, all programs use CTRL+N "open new window". What exactly it does differs per program, though.

Iexploder opens the same page in a new window.

Mozilla Firebird opens your startpage in a new window.

The most evil touch is the Window Button.

Like you play some online FPS, then you try to press Ctrl to crouch, but you hit Window, then you get slapped back to Windows, then you go omfg, alt tab quickly, but by the time you do that either the game crashes or you get killed.

either rip it off, get a program that disables it or learn to press the right buttons
plenty of choices!

"Print Screen" button copies text in DOS and does screen captures in Windows.

Ctrl-W closes a window.

Alt-F4 shuts down programs.

F1 usually goes to a help file.

A types the capital letter a...

Okay, I'm done.

The good thing about this is that if you're using IE, the Ultimate Superbrowser, and want to copy&paste an URL, but are on some shitty page that doesn't show the address bar (streaming videos, for instance), you can ctrl+N it and the new window will have the address bar! ....ta-da

Oh & how about posting keyb shortcuts that people aren't aware of next time rat boy?

I would, but none of the other ones aren't exactly a big suprise you know.

I'm just writing down a couple of the more common ones just in case some people didn't know about them.

Here's one.

If you press the "enter" button, your text cursor goes down a line. Crazy!

dunno for those trackballs, but for normal mouse thingies those gestures rock :p

hold right button, click left button --> page back
hold left button, click right button --> page forward

I don't mind the others though most of the time

convenient and useful (at least for me :D )
