The DX2 demo really is a steaming load of shit. The worst thing about it is the damn thing doesn't run on the vast majority of computers. You can have the latest Geforce or Radeon whatever the fuck and it'll struggle at 800x600 with all settings turned off.
The controls suck. No more leaning, and it doesn't feel like you're walking. I don't know what it is. It's like you're walking around drunk or something. Maybe it was the crazy framerate. The inventory is all but gone. When you pick up new weapons you can't drag and drop them, you have to click on something then hit Enter to select. Then close at least 3 windows to get back into the game. By "streamlining" the game they somehow made it more idiotic and clumsy.
The new HUD is quite simply shit. Imagine walking around with one of those toilet paper rolls over one eye. One person compared it to driving while sitting in the back seat. There's no way to make it disappear either. At least in DX1 you had the option of getting rid of the extra HUD details like the weapons and biomods.
Each time you leave an area (which is every 10 feet) you have to sit through a reload. Afterwards all your controls are conveniently reset to the defaults.
Graphics range from ok to crap. Models are boring, weapons look awful, textures are alright, and lighting is basically good. Characters and monsters don't look much different than the first game.
There's so much wrong I can't begin to list everything here. Stay away from this demo. If you want to know more about how shit it is check the ionstorm or eidos forums, blues news, or any gaming site on the web. This is definitely on the same level as Daikatana as far as PC games are concerned.
Oh yeah, I just remember something that particularly pissed me off. No locational damage. A shot to the foot is equally as damaging as a shot to the head. There's no such thing as one shot one kill. At least in DX1 you could achieve headshots with the pistol and drop a guy. No more.
----------------------
After some serious tinkering with the ini files I finally got the demo running extremely smooth at 1024x768 with settings maxed out. Basically, it's setup for the Xbox. The game still sucks, but not as much as the last 24 hours.

By logic Deus Ex -> DE.
As far as I know you pronounce "ex" as an "x" in English, not in all languages. For example in Finnish, an "x" is pronounced "äks" (~axe).
I don't know about Latin, but we're communicating in English here aren't we? And you pronounce foreign words in English manner.
I'm a heathen speaking a language of half germanic and half slavic origin. Not much to do with Latin nor have I ever studied it.
I only know that Deus Ex means something along the lines "of God" or something.

See that's where you're wrong. Some words get bastardized enough becoming english to sound it, but quite a few stay the way they started, and latin terms always do that. They're verbatim from latin. The name should probably be italicized for that reason, but w/e please.Kashluk wrote:And you pronounce foreign words in English manner.
