What
that's a pretty bold statement, care to elaborate a bit?
Grand Theft Auto 2 > GTA1
Jagged Alliance 2 > JA1
Close Combat 2 > CC1
Star Control 2 > SC1
Car Wars 2 > CW1

.... that was a bold statement and I was wrong.
Point noted.

Also:

Warcraft 2 > Warcraft 1
Heroes 2 > Heroes 1
Civ 2 > Civ 1
Caesar 2 > Caesar 1

In all these cases, the original game was great, yet the sequel is better. Of course, we could compile a much longer list of sequels that sucked.

None of those games were made for the console then badly ported to PC. Invisible War is a spinoff much like FOBOS and the upcoming abomination Starcraft Ghost.

Too many spin offs and crappy sequels these days, just look at Command & Conquer that game has had so many spin offs I don’t even know which ones are sequels or spin offs anymore.

It was a Greek theater term. It was when some God came down and solved the problems.

No, it's Latin alright. You're right about the concept being of Greek origin though.

The Greek equivalent of the Latin word 'Deus' -meaning 'god'- is Theos.

not exactly a god coming down to fix everything, usually just something that saves the story at the last minute and is pretty lame. A bit like the game hey amigos

ss2>system shock 1
fallout>wasteland
terminator 2>terminator 1

It's the third in the series that normally sucks.

Dude, all of Tomb Raider: Teh Movie's plot depended on that cheesy device. Of course it's uber-lame.

The title of the game does have some nice meanings in the game. The role of MJ-12 and Bob Page's cliched scheme, for example.

I'd say the whole "god from the machine" thing relates to one of DX's main themes, which is that technology ("the machine") gives us fantastic powers ("god").

True, it's like Frankenstein or something. If you listen to some conversations, you hear crap like that in the game.

I liked the one about how people would be measured in versions, upgrades and modifications.

I totally agree. When Spazmo mentioned DX2 I had no idea what he was rabbiting on about :P

I keep backspacing the E out too, and replacing it with an X.

One of my friends compared Deus Ex to Fallout(because of the way it could be played, and the multipe endings). From what ive read about it, it doesnt sound very similar but i still want to try it because you can become invisible and kill people without them seeing you. It could be fun for a little bit.

At 300 Units per minute? I don't think so.

Besides, just sneak up and use the Dragon's Tooth.

There's no way DX is even close to Fallout. Given that FO has a good dozen different locations, each with at least two endings that are determined from the very start of the game, DX's purely superficial three endings are nothing.
