Mp3-players

Post by Kashluk »

Hey, I'm thinking of buying an mp3-player for me to carry around. I've been trying to look over the net, but I can't seem to find any decent place to browse & order one, not that I'd know what to look for.

So I'm asking your help here. The player needs to be:

1) cheap, I ain't paying over 150€/$ for it. Preferrably less.
2) packed with over 64 mb of memory, 64'll do too though.

It would be nice if it was small, but that ain't as important as those two things. If you can recommend a good mp3-cd player that'll be ok as well, but I'd rather get a player with memory stick / hard drive.

The NomadIIs are really nice, thats what i have. You can get one from pricewatch.com for $64 that one only comes with 64mb but flash media cards arent expensive.

carry a boom box on your shoulder, and hang out with your band members and jam out to it.

Some months ago I bought a Koss CD player, but it reads mp3s on CD also. You stuff up to around 150 songs on your CD and it plays normal CDs as well.

I don't know if you have a burner tho.

Cost me 150$ CDN.

OR you might want to buy the 800$ iPod?

I've got a burner but I don't like burning music cds much... My mood changes quite often and I want to change my music along with it without carrying lots of cds around :) A memory stick / harddrive is easy to empty and refill.

---

I've been looking for the Nomadic, because the price - quality level seems to be in order.... but haven't found IIC, just Zen, Jukebox and whatever... I'm thinking of buying Muvo, is that one any good?

Kash, buy just 1 rewritable CD, they are like 3-4 bucks CDN, you can rewrite it whenever you want, takes 5-10 minutes and you got a new disc. Seriously it's really convenient.

Um, the hell, I forgot that these mp3/CD players support RW-discs as well :/ How silly of me.

But they're still quite costy, decent ones are like 160 € ? The max I set up in the earlier really IS the max, I'd rather pay 69,99 or something like that for it :)

64Mb is nothing. Spend a few extra bucks to get a decent 10, 15, or 20Gig MP3 player. I have a 15Gig and use mostly from transferring files as a portable hard drive. It holds more MP3's than you would ever listen to. You should be able to get one for less than $200US.

Your're forgetting about the fact that you can't reuse CD space. For example, if you burn 200MB of music onto a -RW disc, you cannot reuse that same space for other stuff. You can delete it (in the sense that it is no longer detected by your computer or any CD players), but that will leave you with a CD-RW disc that can store 537MB of music (for standard 80 minute CD-R and -RW discs). The 74 minute CDs hold 682MB (650 MiB)of data, while the aforementioned 80 minute discs hold 737MB (700 MiB)of data.

you could also buy a md player that supports mp3s
Kashluk

Post by Kashluk »

MDs suck, that's why I'm not even considering that option :)

Good idea JJ, but too often those mp3-players with hard drives do cost at least 200 bucks. I saw Creative Zen-something last night, 20Gigs of space and lots of other fancy stuff but it had a price tag of over 320,00 on it.
