I fully realize that. Even so, the two still make for shitty, boring movies. The other gripe is, they take themselves too seriously.
This whole "movies that're just fun are a-ok!" thing annoys me.

I don't want to have to ponder for hours over a movie like I did over Strangelove, or stare blankly at the screen for 30 minutes, awe-struck like I did after watching Requiem for a Dream, or want to view a scene 20 times over like I did the final scene of Long Good Friday, but there's a difference between fun'n'easy viewing and just plain stupidity.

Snatch is fun, easy viewing.

Ocean's Eleven is just plain stupidity. Plus it has Julia Roberts. Barf-head. Is it fun? Yeah, maybe, if I had a huge hole in my head where the logic lobe of the brain used to be, but sad thing is, I don't. That movie was bad. Not mindbogglingly bad like Dreamcatcher or Matrix 2, but baaaaad.

Plus atoga is right, they take themselves too seriously.

PS: The Rocky Horror Picture show is one of those cult-classics. It's a good film, I suppose, but I didn't like it too much myself.

Ocean Eleven sucked .

About music, I just found some good ol' Emerson, Lake and Palmers, it's pretty good, and Gentle Giant too.

Alright, Lasse, so what's your decade of choice? Don't say the '90s or this decade. They aren't shitty, but I don't see how they could be better than the previous ones.
the '90s or this decade....
Well that's simply because the genre I like the most wasn't around until the 90s: gay computer micro chip killa soldier techno or something, sometimes referred to as drum&bass? Honestly though the 70s and 80s weren't all that bad (except for Disco and other horrible cheese a'la vice city ost), but the music doesn't really tickle my fancy either. Some of the old punk is cool (Anti-Nowhere League, Clash, Crass, Sean Paul), but I still prefer post-80s punk rock most of the time. I'm a terrible person, I know
Shut up. Most people play PNP differently (ie. they make it boring) from how I do. Just because John plays PnP doesn't mean that all people who play PnP are like John.
No!
Oh, and I bet all people who like Fallout are just like our friend Rex, too.
Yes!
About Lock Stock & Snatch... I'm sure you have a very educated opinion and all that jazz, maybe because I'm not an expert is why I think they're very entertaining movies. It's like music; I don't mind if the engineering, mixdown and mastering aren't 110% top notch as long as the ideas are cool and the sound is still reasonably good.

How?
its a poorly cast movie which includes one of the people i hate with a passion, susan sarandon.
the plot is retarded even for a musical and its absolutely flabergasting how anyone would be stupid enough to sit through a musical involving transvestites. the movie has no fucking point. when i watched it i wanted to hunt down Jim Sharman and stab him in the face until i got my 2 hours of time back.

its like those fucking people who sit through episodes of "queer as folk" and say they like it. any show where guys ream other guys in the ass should be taken off television and the creator should be shot.

EDIT: how the fuck do you make PNP exciting?
go out and hunt orcs like a fairy you tool?

Your hatred is understandeable.

Well, yes, but it's cult. A lot of people like it for the fact that it's cult. They won't admit it, they won't be aware of it, but that's the reason they like it. "It's cult".

A real love it-hate it film, that one. You either love it, or hate it. You obviously hate it. It's not about getting it either, there's little to get...

I think several factors made it cult. It's cheeziness, the revolutional way it handled it's topic (*SHOCKING!*), Tim Curry. Bad acting and bad sets only help. And as I mentioned above, people love it (or hate it) because it's cult.

AC/DC put their first album out in '75, but I have no idea how long they were around before being signed.

Black Sabbath formed originally back in '68 as Earth, but their first album was released in April of '70.

The Rolling Stones did indeed get their start back in the '60s. (Hell, they even appeared on the old Ed Sullivan Show, even though Ed did make them change their lyrics a bit for that...)

Personally, I can take or leave them. They are neither talentless hacks, nor the cat's meow.

BTW, I noticed you like Brubeck and mentioned Take Five. If youd don't own it already, get Time Further Out. It's Brubeck and cohorts doing more of the same, and they're feeling more comfortable w/what they are doing. Great stuff, Far More Blue itself is worth the price of the album.

Cheers,

Thanks, I'll talk with my friend about that, I'm sure he has it since he's a huge jazz fan. I like jazz (all types except for kenny G type stuff), but it's just a passing interest. I guess you can tell from my DAC name what my real passion is.

Your quotes and titles seem to fall into the same category.

Not making fun of you, just ribbing you a bit. (For the record, I've never really let loose on anyone on this board. It's one of my internet principles. Since you aren't sitting in front of the person it's hard to gauge what damage you might be doing.)

You change your quote, title, etc., quite frequently. I was just ribbing you about that w/the bit about a "passing phase". That's all.
