The First (And Last) Look At Fallout 3

[Game -> Update]

As a big thanks NMA posted the alleged only known Fallout 3 screenshot in existence:

I’d like to thank NMA for doing such great work collecting every piece of info surrounding FO3. It takes a lot of patience to do that kind of stuff. And a big FUCK YOU goes out to Interplay and their supporters. The “wild, untamed fanboys were right again.

Well thanks for making me sad.

Still, I don't think it would have lived up to what it set before it. Fucking Interplay has its head stuck perpetually up its fat ass. Its almost like they WANT to suck.

Actually I’m pretty happy with what they did, I only have two problems with it.

1) I don’t really like the look of the power armor but then again at birds eye view it properly wouldn’t look for bad.

2) It doesn’t look very 50ish but hey! It’s an alpha version so the final version properly would have had a more 50ish feeling to it.

Interplay could have gotten a lot more money from Fallout 3 then they ever could from FO:BOS but then again Interplay have never been good at wise marketing decisions.

But one thing is sure.. that does not look so nice like pixel-graphics in F1 and F2... Low quality textures and low-poly models.. hmm..

Yes, but the more they would concentrate on the obvious (story & gameplay) than "cool minigun particle effects" the better Van Buren could've been.

And the last time I checked the game was only half-finished if that? I'm sure they wouldn't have left it quite like that.

Maybe it'll be bought and revived...
Like the Sea Dogs follow-up became Pirates of the Caribbean.. I haven't tried it, but Sea Dog fans say it's alright, considering they might never have seen a Sea Dogs 2. (Or was it three? shit if I know...)

Play With A Friend.

It wouldn't have looked as bad as I thought it could be. But then again, it's pretty turn-of-the-millenium eh? lollin, cheers mate.

What's that around the neo-vault runner anyway?

Don't forget this is a closeup, any suckiness you notice here would be nonexistent in the zoomed out 3rd person isometric view

... now we need to organize some sort of vigilante justice eh? hammer can be outfit leader

This was only for the techdemo, the characters were just inserted with a pic editor, the models looked better than that, although they aren`t bad.

The view was isometric, and not from the ground, but it uses the game engine. The result would be like Silent Storm in high-res, with such detailed textures that it almost seemed 2D from above, like the old games, but with the bells and whistles of 3D.

Cool, I was saying the other day if they did make it 3d I hope that they would make it like SS 3d. Too bad its just a dream now.

It IS a PipBoy. That's how it was described in design docs. Big clunky thing strapped to your arm.

Look at all those opinions of a picture of work in progress, that is not so work in progress anymore.

Fallout radiates from it, and it feels like it.

Yeah but it isn't an in-game shot, it is a static splash screen. A really sucky splash screen. You mean to tell me they can't import their 3d models into Bryce to make a decently rendered pic? The game resolution I would imagine would be similar to UFO Aftermath which wasn't bad.

It's OK but it doesn't feel quite as good as the original FO graphic. 3D still isn't perfected enough to be as detailed and atmospheric as 2D.

Except maybe Stalker :D
