For the first time in my life, I began browsing through Interplay's forums. Yes, for the first time in my life. And there I noticed this strange hostility against Fallout fans. As we were somehow "fanatic" and "aggressive", not to mention "demanding" and "unrealistic".

Are we like that, really? Or is this just a big, fat joke by those heathens?

every post on that topic is by that josan gimp, anyway, i'm sure its the same way us "vile fo fanboys" look at other "miscelaneous game fanboys".

besides, i think this may mean something but its written in ancient sumarian text, and i dunno how to translate it...

There is a tendency these days for gamers to figuratively perform fellatio on game developers (which in my opinion leads to lower quality games, but I digress) and the vast majority of the people who post at the Interplay fora do so. Thus, they despise any fans whose feedback doesn't consist of "XXXXXX was totally kewl! Will there be ponies in the sequel? that would rock"* Criticism is tantamount to heresy to those sycophants, whether that criticism is valid or not.

Most of the arguments one could devise against the Iplay forumites have already been exhausted in the thread about that Interplay employee's article on Gamespy decrying Fallout fans for disliking the hairy deathclaws.

*This is giving way too much credit for grammar and spelling, but I'm sick of the leetspeak, so sue me.

Edit: I didn't even read the thread that Kash posted a link to, so if it was a joke, sue me again. My opinion of the denizens of the Interplay fora stands.

They've always shown some animosity towards Fallout fans. I first noticed it when the big FOBOS incident occured at Interplay's forums and a sort of war errupted between us. They always think they have everything figured out, and in reality knew nothing.

I think it will never end.

Interplay is a terrible, ignorant forum full of pus.

I'll agree that a lot of Fallout fans are angry people. Hell, most of us are. But you've got to wonder why - if people weren't taking apart our favorite games and turning them to shit, there'd be no reason to defend, to try and keep everything Fallouty intact.

Mostly, though, they're just dumb and as hostile as we are; the difference is that they act on stupid generalizations, and we tend to be more rational.

Well look on the bright side, the Fallout fan forums will be still be up when the Interplay forums close down (after F:BOS tanks), so half of those kids will probably end up coming here; making threads like: "FallOut Brotha'HoOd wAs tOtAlly keWl! WTF?!?!?! They left out rabid, murderous and outspoken. Jeez most game developers would kill for fans that would firebomb their competition's HQs if one of their programmers so much as hinted at it!

No wonder they went under.

Thats EXACTLY how I feel. Except a little bit more optimistic. I want to play it. I'm for the most part easily ammused, and even if I don't like it, its only 50 bucks down the drain.

Now you know why America's economy is superior; when our citizens have money, they spend it...even if it's complete crap.

I've pre-ordered it. I love playing these type of games, especially with co-op.

He only has one friend, so he needs an excuse to tell him so he can keep inviting him over.

Anyway, I feel sorry for all the Interplay employees (BIS included) who lost their jobs over the horrible management for the company they worked for; I hope they're able to find employment relatively soon. My advice to those who still work for Interplay: keep your options open.
