Faint glimmer of hope for FO3
Puuk in the above link is/was a primary mover and shaker on FO3.

The Fallout 3 project, known also as Van Buren has been canned and those working on it laid off. Since The Fall seemed to be a logical competitor to the upcoming Fallout title, and I imagine a primary inspiration for The Fall, I now respectfully ask Silver Style to pick up the pieces of the post-apoc world and run with them.
Well, we are definatly interested in hiring some of the former Balck Isle staff. I try to get in contact with them.
I also disclose no big secret if I tell you that we have found a mayor partner for The Fall and that money wouldn't be the biggest problem when we would try to get the FO licence.
My biggest concern is the reaction of the FO community. We're all huge fans of FO here and have deepest respect for the achivements of the dev team. However, we are no Black Isle, we are Silver Style. And I'm afraid that the community wouldn't be pleased with a FO3 that wasn't developed by the original team. Even if I'm very sure that we could deliver a real stunning game.

Ea will make FO2004, then FO2005 then maybe FO Hot pursuit 1, then 2, and then FO Underground.
We should get around 10 FO games in then ext 7 years!! We'll all be happy! FO overdose!

1st of all, I guess F3 was for the most part completed - when Sawyer was leaving there was some talk about some major components of the game being done, and they have progressed even further from that. It seemed that Sawyer, after all, had pretty good ideas on Fo3 (no, you can't please everyone) so continueing the work FROM the point where it was 'shelved' should result in something decent, right?
This 'EA got the licence' thing is bullshit, right?
So yes, Troika (OR OBSIDIAN) should (ideally) try to get the licence.
Still, even Silver Style should be able to complete Fo3 since, I assume, it's almost ready. They should try to get Josh and Chris 1st of all if they can actually get any former BIS employees.
Right now WE should try to get Puuk say what's done and what's not in the Fo3/VB project.
And maybe we could petition Troika to encourage them to try to get the licence? (if it's ANY possible)

I've just created a thread at Silver Style forum. It's about what they should implement in The Fall or Fallout 3 (if they happen to get it) if they want to come up to our expectations.

This sums it up.Slave_Master wrote:People who can't even make good games, much less good RPG's, working on FO3? Great idea!
Hell, I certainly don't have the arrogance to think I could do right by the license to ever want it...just look at this community. Granted there is so much material, but what makes it FO more than anything IMO is of course the people. Truth be told, I didn't have the highest expectations for the current BIS people to bring back that 'flavor', though it still would've been fun.
At that point, is it still Fallout? Better to go out how we remember it than as a shitth sequel.
Cheers

I agree with MMRW as well, even if the Fall looks pretty bleak it might be fun etc - and if the design is the bad part, and FO3 already have a good design to start with the Fall and the quality of a possible FO3 gets to be how well they can execute a design, even a bad one at that. But the chances that they will make FO3 seems pretty low besides the fact if they can make FO1 justice or not.
as for MS.
Super H > MS makes pretty good games though, but never great for some reason.

Note:
The age of the remake is upon is. Everything is getting remakes, from films to books to games to even toy brands, everything is going vintage and coming back up to 20 years after its initial incarnation, and quite often these remakes are actually turning out better than the originals.
Let us enshrine the original copies of Fallout 1 and Fallout 2, and the unfinished Van Buren, lock them in a vault, and guard them until their time comes about once more... in.. 10 years or so.
.. no?
I like the way silverstyle seem to repsect our zealous love for fallout... but i don't think they could do it right... Get those selfish buggers from the other companies, lock them in a room with a few nice pc's and push strips of beef jerky under the door twice a day.
