i need help in fallout....

how do you get past all them rats in the cave... they keep killin me...

I assume you are referring to the starting cave. If you have a character that can fight, you can fight them on the way out, otherwise just keep running until you leave the map. The way to get out is to go as far down as you can and then go to the left.

Sneaking would also be useful if you have a high enough skill but otherwise its run or fight.

Sneak, run all part of your options. If you wanna fight, make sure you approach the rats "carefully" and stop way before you are in front of it, start combat and let them walk to you. After hitting them once, walk away from them ...etc. They won't have enough AP to attack you that way.

Use the gun if your character is not that stong...if it is use the knife to save ammo...I suggest you stop at the nearest village. Just go straight to Vault 15 and you will find it. There get experience from one of the two people at that gate and so forth and so on...read the game guide if you want...its a lot more fun without it! 8O

How strange. It seems that, although this thread has been moved form the general forum, every time someone replies to it, it moves up IN the general forum. One wonders what the purpose of such a "moving" option is. If it is to move it OUT of this forum, why then, does replying to it, make it move in the forum from which it was moved?

What's funny is, there was a review I read of Fallout a long time back where the reviewer said Fallout sucked because he couldn't get out of the cave. I always thought that was pretty funny. I've never had a tough time with that cave, even my first time through it.

Me, too. I use the knife by the way. Play with the attack style a bit, I can't remember which one thrust or swing mode is better but one of them is!

You have got to be kidding me.
Well, try reading the manual, i bet if you know how to equip a gun or knife it would be a lot more helpful...

I didn't even touch my manual until i got to Shady Sands.

There is one on the Fallout disc, look under manual and click the manual and read it.

It has a toutorial for the caves section.
The reviewer probably didn't read it.

I went with the gun. Snipers are the best.
I don't understand why people care about saving ammo. I've never run out of ammo. I've got 1200+ .223 FMJ ammo.

Put a weapon in your right item-slot, then the ammo for it in the left. Now unloa the weapon. Drag the one piece of ammo from the left slot onto the weapon. It's now reloaded but the ammo isn't subtracted from your total! Unload and repeat.

The body near the door has 10mmAP ammo. Load up with it for rat hunting if you don't want to use your JHP ammo.
