what happens now?
what happens now?
hey hey, first time iv posted in about five years - i've read DAC since i bought that brand new "fallout" game back in what, 97?
anyway, i wanted to know what will happen to DAC now that black isle has disbanded. i think its fairly safe to say interplay is kaput, and who knows when (if ever) the fallout license will be picked up by another company.
is DAC going to go into virtual stasis like it did a few years ago, before news of fallout tactics revived interest? or will it just turn into a nursing home for bitter old Fallout fans, bitching about how "post-apocalyptic role playing games arent made like they used to be! i remember a time when developers walked 20 miles through snow, UPHILL BOTH WAYS to bring us a good game, not like the rubbish these kids play nowadays..."

Ohhh, I reckon we'll kick on for a bit longer... whilst Fallout is the main focus here, we're still fairly interested in the other post-apocalyptic games floating around. Plus there's the modding / mapping community... and those scary role-playing types that I'm too nervous to talk to.
Besides, most people hang around here because of the other people posting their crazy / bullshit / amusing opinions... I pretty much gave up on Fallout a while ago, but I still poke my head into here when I get a free moment to see how things are going with the regulars.
We don't necessarily need new Fallout news to survive... it's the crazy fuckers in the community that keep it going. Shit, how much "exciting" Fallout news have we posted lately anyway? Stuff that will please Fallout fans? Exactly.
When everyone gives up and decides that "Baldurs Gate 6: The Throbbing Gauntlet of Fah'Quing Wahn'Kar" is the way to go, leaving this place as a (poetic) barren landscape, then we'll call it quits.

Fortunately, there are other post-apocalyptic things besides Fallout. I guess we'll just slowly evolve from a fallout community to a general post-apoc community. Take a look at Fall, Stalker, Project Phoenix (
) etc.
But yes, we are already bitter, only the sign "nursing home" is still missing from the top of the site.

Err, ok, I believe I' ve just proven your point. :p
Well it' s like most of you might have answered already: it' s not as much FO but the interest in the whole post-apocalyptic feel that binds us to DAC. Oh yes, and the demise of BIS/Interplay ofcourse.

DAC will be fine. Most of us (except maybe Brios) don't care all that much about the future of Fallout anyway.
We roleplaying people are scary types, that I assure you.

suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.
