Then again I could very well be closer to the house of Abraham than I know, considering that quite a few jews were given the choice of converting, leaving the country or the sword. Can't say I blame someone for voiding their religion to save their lives/livelihood. As a matter of fact it is er.."suggested" in the book of Leviticus as a means to allow the people to survive.

I am still glad I'm white though, like Cris rock said, "No white dude in this room would change bodies with me. They wanna stay with their white asses and see if it takes them ne where." However, I hate it when people look at me and say i was rascist or sexist or some other kind of -ist, stupid mother-fuckers :!: :badgrin: . Since we're on the topic of race, I have a question I figure OTB can answer, since he's so smart. What's up with the word "caucasian" anyway? Am I supposed to believe that all white guys came from the Caucasus area?

Back in the days when people believed in absolute racial
distinctions, a scholar called Blumenbach put forward the hypothesis
that the "white race" had originated in the Caucasus mountains and
spread out from there. He therefore conferred the name `Caucasian'
on the white race, and the name has simply persisted -- at least in
English.

AFAIK, yes, that's supposed to have something to do w/the origin of the race. Just like Mongoloids are supposed to have originated in central Asia. But don't ask me why Negroids are named for their skin tone and not some region.

Don't take this as gospel, though. I'm really not sure. I might check into it later today, since it's an intriguing question. (It might help me ignore some relatives while I'm being "festive" this X-mas Eve, too.

)

Edit: It looks like Lynxer beat me to it! Still, Blumenbach sounds like a ticket to escape some relatives...
