True Crimes
True Crimes
Okay, WTF is going on with TC? I checked out games stop and EB games a month ago and they both had release dates for the PC version of TC and now I can't find jack shat about the PC version. Please don't tell me the PC version was canned I was looking forward to buying the damn game for the PC.
I wouldn't think they would all of a sudden can the PC port at the last minute.

Steve is so disapointed with TC that he pretty much warned me that if I picked it up he'd sumarilly chop off my thumbs to spare me the pain of going thru that POS.
Funny thing is, he made it sound like it was a fate better than death itself when compared with TC. He should know, as of last count Steve has finished Vice City 5 times.
Over the years, concerning videogames I've learned to listen to his critisim.

It looks pretty lame. The fact that there's only five mission types - and each is repetitive - is kind of a downside, and there's nothing really interesting added to the whole Grand Theft Auto "go around on the streets and do kewl stuff" idea.
Too bad; Los Angeles rules.

suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.
Hmmm... I have only been able to play a little bit on a console but it seemed like it would be fun and from what I read it looks good too. I don't know though, maybe it's good if it doesn't come out I don't want another Deus Ex 2 dissapointment on my hands.
I would really like to see something with the open ended city and driving but be strong RPG with good combat oh-well maybe in 5 or so years when technology catches up with my imagination. In other words looks like Mafia or GTA but tottaly different design and game play.

the story in gta3, and vice city was great, they had so many easter eggs it could have been two easter bunnys!! and the gameplay was a lot better than true fucking crime, the cars were better, and the weapons better, the stunts better, the missions more intricate, the SOUNDTRACK!!! Cipher, are you sure you played gta3 and vice city? if you didnt liek either of them, there is no WAY you could like true crime.
I still want to try True Crime, the fact that it -appears- to add a decent melee combat system (aka: better than GTA's) appeals to me. However some of the grabs of the game in the television commercial had me cringe as I saw a guy with two automatic submachineguns "dancing" around another guy guns ablaze and nobody was dying, that bothers me. I purposely modded GTA3 so all the guns were pretty lethal. Nothing kills ambience like watching a guy run around taking a metric ton of bullets without dying to me.
I would rather have a fast brutal encounter in which I was shocked, surprised and died in a rather cinematic or at least so sudden way that I was left thinking "Where the heck did that come from!?" Than I would by being worn down by bullets that appear to do as much damage as a pea-shooter on crack.
The only way I could handle low damage values in a game is if it was done very well, ie full blow inverse kinematics, if the guy isn't dying immediately he might as well go into some really wicked-cool hitstun animations and get knocked about in real time from the impacts. Seeing a guy shug off bullets has been played out far too much since the days of quake and doom.

I rented this game awhile ago and beat it. Seemed decent, but the 5 types of missions over and over got boring, as did the whole cheesy "Good Cop, Bad Cop" thing they had.
If you want realism, Burnov, this isn't the game. At the end of the game, the main char is toting akimbo .50 cals and killing zombies. Yes, zombies. One of the bosses is even an undead dragon thing. I'm not making this up.
The game's soundtrack consists entirely of rap, so if you arn't into rap then you'll be forced to turn off every song one by one. The game's random crime thing was kinda cool, but like everything else got boring after awhile. The only things I really liked about this game was that Christopher Walken does one of the voices.

Well to be honest. I don't really expect realism from any console game. However as I indicated below. If it's done well and creatively. I can appreciate it, or at least overlook.
Zombies? .50 cal? What fifty caliber weapons would those be? Sniper rifles? That sounds rather ridiculous. Still I'm even more curious about it now. If it's only 7 bucks for some cheap entertainment or at best a good laugh. I'm up for it.

The big shit thing in TC is that they wasted that entire huge ass city. There is absolutely ZERO reason to explore, short of arresting people committing the same 12 crimes, and that gets old real fast. The thing about GTA was just that, exploration( as avenger said )...the world felt alive...not dry and empty like TC. Couple that with a dorky main character, sub-par vehicle physics and cheeze gun play, oh and yea, zombies, demon skulls and a dragon ( oops, did I spoil that! ).
Yea its crap and its NOT GTA in concept. It just has a city, you drive and walk and shoot um, thats it.
Cheers

No dude, I said I liked GTA. It was cool, I just wasn't impressed with the story, the missions were good and the game play rocks though. I haven't tried Vice yet though.avenger69ie wrote:the story in gta3, and vice city was great, they had so many easter eggs it could have been two easter bunnys!! and the gameplay was a lot better than true fucking crime, the cars were better, and the weapons better, the stunts better, the missions more intricate, the SOUNDTRACK!!!
