Thank you, I am continuing to work at the same rate I have over the last 3 years. It's just now it is a full time job instead of what I was doing when I wasn't building golf courses. This is why I have the volume of dev data that you are seeing. I have been writing this game since Fallout2. I have been bulding levels for this game since the release of Return To Castle Wolfenstien. I used GtkRadiant back then to create the levels. You have seen those screencaps of Necropolis. I then turned to the UnrealEd bundled with UT2003 Tournament. This engine was way more robust than the Quake3A or RTCW engines. Now what we are doing is building the game in UnrealEd3.0 hoping to be able to port it over to UnrealEdxxx when UT2004 is released because supposedly the engine and editor have expanded in their capabilities. Once it is almost finished we port it over to Caligari GameSpace 3D to create a stand alone game. This way, the Demo will be an executable file, while the entire game will likely be a 2 CD install. In any event, I am holding back some stuff (like player models, weapons, textures) until they are in a state that I feel you would appreciate them in. Don't worry, there should be something new posted almost every day.Kashluk wrote:No worries man, he's just fucking with you
I think this one looks great and EVEN if it doesn't turn out to be as revolutionizing as the original Fallouts, I bet it'll be pretty good.
I'd be happy to see anything you have to offer, just don't rush things... Keep making new stuff at stable rate

Whaaa? Do they open it up to let people in or something?MeatPoPsicKle wrote:T
Just because the average Vault citizen has no idea what is actually going on outside the Vault, do you think that NO ONE inside the Vault has some sort of intelligence on what is outside? These were military people to begin with, very paranoid military types. The overseer and her top Security personel know exactly what it looks like within a 2 to 5 mile perimeter of the Vault.
Otherwise I don't see how they'd have known. Or why they'd need to know.
Perhaps you could listen to us instead of defending your crasy ideas?

Actually the Semi AI in the Vault has the capabilities to produce the 'eyebot' floating robots you see in most vaults, as well as Mr. Handy's and the Military Robo Mecs. All of these devices are well suited to exploring the outside world without exposing the Vault to risk. What makes you think that big Vault door is the only entrance to the Vault? That is the 'public' entrance in the Front corridor near the parking terraces as you 'arrive' at the Vault. There is a outward ventilation system that is fairly well disguised as a cave, this vent is necessary to vent the Crematorium. The Crematorium is located right next to the Decon stations in the first entrance level after you enter the big gear Vault door, but before you are allowed into the Vault proper. The are maintenance tunnels all over this thing. There is also the employees entrance that allows employees to avoid the public entrance.Megatron wrote:Whaaa? These are the old Vaults, I can't get any information about Mt. Weather, one of the new Vaults. But you can bet it is a similar layout. I know it is really rough, but look at the 'blueprint' for Vault 23 that is in my Rad-X section, and you get a pretty good idea of the way a real Vault would be constructed.

Tell me about it. And we bought and paid for it, so that Ronny could go hide under ground while Moscow burned. One of the stupidiest ideas of the 20th century. Fucking creepy is what it was. Don't you REMEMBER the cold war? Or are you all too young to have lived through it? Well unfortunately I am not. I am an old fart. I lived through the 60's 70's and 80's. There aren't too many thinking people of my generation that didn't grow up without the everpresent threat of Nuclear holocaust. It changes the way you think and feel about the world, about your own government, about your family, about alot of things. It didn't help that my father worked in the Aerospace industry. All I saw growing up was proposals for ballastic missles and caseless ammunition and anti personnel bomblets, and all sorts of lovely things. We didn't FEAR a nuclear war, we KNEW it was going to happen, it was only a matter of when.Megatron wrote:that's the dumbest thing I ever heard.
Sometimes I think that we are the parallel universe and we didn't make it through the cold war, and we are just the dreams of 12 billion ghosts that float in the air of the wastelands.

Infortunately, due to the storm of the decade (top ten ever recorded in this area), our host is currently without power. http://fallout3d.com is up and running minus the forum which is still being hosted locally. As soon as my host is back online, I will be adding a redirect link from the http://richrounds.com/foindex.htm to http://fallout3d.com.BlackDog wrote:the URL on the news page doesn't work - or the site has exceeded it's daily/weekly/monthly bandwidth...

"...the ideas aren't that important. Really they aren't. Everyone's got an idea for a book, a movie, a story, a TV series.
Every published writer has had it - the people who come up to you and tell you that they've Got An Idea. And boy, is it a Doozy. It's such a Doozy that they want to Cut You In On It. The proposal is always the same - they'll tell you the Idea (the hard bit), you write it down and turn it into a novel (the easy bit), the two of you can split the money fifty-fifty"
They are making the game, so they decide. Our job is either to like it or dislike it. If they say we are going to make this realistic... you cannot just say "NO! DON'T!" and then flame him. If you don't like the game they are doing, DO YOUR OWN. I know I will.
I have read only the first two pages of this topic, too much off-topic bitching. I'll move to your forums to discuss about your project.

It’s not the fact of making it realistic, it’s more about Head shots = teh gay. I gave my opinion to him because I’ve made games before and been through the same thing and he comes back with a half ass comment, which could have only been said by an Interplay PR guy or an idiot. They are making the game, so they decide. Our job is either to like it or dislike it. If they say we are going to make this realistic... you cannot just say "NO! DON'T!" and then flame him. Even in Fallout 1 and 2, a well aimed head shot with a nice gun could take someone out with one bullet. It didn't happen every time because you had to also take into account armor, aiming ability, level of damage of the gun, etc. The same will be true for FALLOUT3d. The script has the ability to let me set the AI parameters to prevent the 1 shot=death from occuring every time a head shot is fired. Yes, if you are unprotected and they are using a good gun and have a really good accuracy rate, you could die in one shot, but that will not be the case 100% of the time. Besides, wouldn't it be fun to take out the enemy with one good head shot of your own once in a while?
