Question about co-op adventure'y/rpg'ish games.

Post by Burnov »

I hear that in arcanum you can play the full game in co-operative mode? Any truth to that? Do they still sell the game? Me and a friend are looking for some older games to co-op with since he's not running the greatest gaming machine right at the moment. We're going to see if system shock 2 works on his machine. However arcanum looks like it might be fun too. Anyone have some old favorites they might know of that I could look into as well?

There's a few RPG's you can play in Co-op, and most are still available. Arcanum is one, but I haven't played that with someone online. I have played Baldur's Gate I and II co-op though, and it's pretty good if you're both playing it for the first time. You don't need good system specs to play it, and it's easily available online. Temple of Elemental Evil is also multiplayer I belive, but you need a pretty decent computer to run it well.

Arcanum can be played fully co-op in multiplayer. I've only tried it once but it was quite fun. And BG2 is good for online co-op as well, just keep in mind that it takes time ;)

Temple of Evil does not have multiplayer.

My mistake then.

Oh and if you're into "diabloish" stuff, you might wanna try Dungeon Siege. It's not that harsh on your computer if you turn the detail levels & resolution down... it has a co-op style & player vs. player style, both are pretty funky in my opinion. But then again, it's all hack & slash, so if you're not into it, don't bother.

NO! IF YOU VALUE ANYTHING AT ALL, NO! Don't even think of ever touching Dungeon Siege! It's just a fucking screensaver of a game that plays itself for you! People only like DS because it plays itself for you, thereby removing any challenge. The only thing you actually have to do in DS is smash barrels and occasionally manage loot.

So yeah, another Kashluk brainfart.
How appropriate. You fight like a cow.

It plays FOR you? Man, I must've missed something, because I had to be pressing the pause button all the time, because I had no time to give orders... :-/ A real brainfart indeed.

I'll look into all your recommendations. The fact you can play arcanum co-operatively is very good news indeed, they need that for fallout(2) =/. Thanks for all your replies, however constructive or for the lack thereof. They were all interesting. =P

You CANNOT play the singleplayer arcanum in co-op, only certain player created modules, as well as the one that comes with the game made by troika. Singleplayer CANNOT be played co-op without the use of a module that would remove the world map, which would make it extremely dull anyway.

Arg. That kind of sucks. Dammit. Game developers need to directly add multiplayer functionality into their singleplayer game modes. It makes them so much more fun when you can do that.

I wouldn't be able to play FO coop. I get so immersed in that game, that I would have to play it my way.

Contrastically, Diablo 2 is a ton of fun to play coop with friends (not Battle.net)

ya, diablo 2 is would probably give you the most enjoyment while co-oping with your friend. It works on most pcs so i wouldn't worry about his computer not being able to handle it.

Try System Shock 2.

A bit tricky to find, but once you do, you'll have a ton of fun. Check around Ebay, I see it on there often (infact I just won a bid on SS2 and it's in the mail for me right now).

Does Septerra Core has a multiplay mode?

And don't play NWN, it's bad for you.

No multiplay for Septerra Core. It's basically a console style RPG. Go w/ System Shock 2--a great game.
